When I have a reply to a comment, I don't have the body of the reply in the email, it is just blank.
Using gmail address.

at least you get emails regularly.
i get emails "randomly"
Madrill says it sent them all but i get maybe 1 in 10 that is sent....
and i've checked spam. they're not getting caught my my spam filter either.

I suspect looking in Mandrill's logs would clear it up - emails don't tend to just go missing. They get bounced back to sender or the receiving server flags as spam and handles accordingly. And you've ruled out the latter.
It's probably just Alex that has that access though.
