Better late than never...

  •  I got this letter in the post today.... I know the next line on the it is "If you have recently renewed your licence, please disregard this letter", but even so the letter below does make you wonder how integrated their marketing department is to their sales (Note the dates, and the other - invisible - fact that I renewed 1st March)

  • It might just be an i18n fail (05/04/2010 = May 4, American style), though that would be odd because they got it right with "22 April 2010" above.

  • I pity the fool named "MeesterTurner" that redacts the letters after "Mr. T", as if we couldn't figure it out.

But then TRWTF would be that a UK company is using American styled dates...

    Yes, it was deliberate :-)

Betchya can't work out my office address though, as I may still be wanted by the government for a crime I didn't commit.

Never issue challenges.  I won't put the full address I found, but is it on Moss Road in Grimsby?

  •  TRWTF is JPEG (and between the content redaction and uploading it as PNG, too).

  •  TRWTF is that their offices are in The Pentagon

Our next contestant is Mr T from Doncaster, he likes posting pictures of his desktop with sheep on it, and was once photographed standing next to a comedian at an awards ceremony...

Just being called The Pentagon doesn't make it the government building in the USA. No wonder everyone thinks Americans don't know there is a rest of the world.

In fact, The Pentagon is the name for a commercial complex in Oxfordshire - like it says in the line below where you apparently stopped reading.

  •
    Mr T.,

Birthday November 6, 1979?  First initial 'P' maybe?

    There's two problems with this:

    1) It doesn't look like a pentagon. Your linking to the Google Maps image was a bad strategy here, as I would otherwise have been far too lazy to look it up.

    2) At best, it's a pentagon. The Pentagon is in the US.

He was just being snarky, I believe.  He does raise a good point: who names their shitty, non-pentagonal office park after an internationally-famous landmark?  You would think it retarded if there was an office park in South Dakota named The Tower Of London, no?

The US has a Smurf Rd.

    So anything goes, really.

Yeah, but Smurfs aren't a famous landmark.  They're more of a pest, really; those little fuckers are everywhere.  And Raid doesn't do shit.

A good blow from the ole Power Fist really fucks 'em up.

I almost bought a townhouse here.  The name was a point in its favor, frankly.  I couldn't wait to write it on government forms and stuff.

    Good find.

I'm trying to find dirtiness on all the street names, but I'm stumped on "Fleenor lane". The hell.

It's also near Burke, where I suspect Tenpenny Tower should be.

The difference here being that the bridge design is based on AND is actually built out of the original London Bridge (which coincidentallly, pun intended, actually was "falling down")

I think Tenpenny Tower is supposed to be in Warrenton (it's near Warrington Metro).  This would make the large road running east-west out to Girdershade I-66, which is roughly matches.  Of course, both Warrenton and I-66 are further south than depicted in the game, but I blame plate tectonics.

I looked at the "real map" of Fallout 3 according to the wikiawiki, but it appears to be all fucked. The Fallout 3 map was, in fact, non-uniformly scaled, with increasingly compressed reality from central outward. I've been meaning to produce a better mapping, but:

    a) it's difficult grabbing shots from Google Earth because you have to stitch that shit together because you need to see location names which have fucked visibility ranges in GE.
    b) it's not a significant match, so you'll end up deforming it on a few landmarks, completely ignoring others, which is very unsatisfying for a project such as this (Springvale/field are on opposite sides of the river, for example, while the real Germantown isn't even on the map)
    c) it's a fucking game. Can't be arsed. (Any further, that is)

Yeah, I know.  But somebody at least needs to replace the crappy static map from Wikia with one using the Google Maps API, like this one for Oblivion.

Pests?  They're delicious.  I prefer them Hibachi Style. A lot more meat on them than you would expect.

    Awesome.

I will double my efforts with renewed vigor.
