Not sure if it is technically a bug, but whatever, I'm bored.
So, I decided to click on the "Tags" link at the top (did I mention I am bored?). Scanning through the list, the tag "fantasy" caught my eye. 10 topics. I'm a fan of fantasy, so what type of topics could these be on a website like this? Click on it:
I assume it's a permissions thing. Shouldn't the number next to the tag name only account for the topics you can actually access?

Wouldn't that be multiple extra database calls for each topic in each tag shown on a page? Keep in mind that NodeBB doesn't (currently) support any SQL databases.

Does IdiotBase or whatever we're using not have the ability to do:
select count(1) from tags as t INNER JOIN Topics as p on t.postid = p.PostID INNER JOIN categories as c on Topics.CategoryID = p.CategoryID INNER JOIN UserToCategoryPermission as cp ON cp.CategoryID = c.CategoryID WHERE tag = @tag AND user = @user

- TWO THOUSAND FUCKING FIFTEEN.
This post starts with an introduction to analyzing data with MongoDB. We then explain why joins are sometimes useful for MongoDB – in spite of the strengths of the document model – and how developers have been working without them.
EXPLAINS WHAT THE USE OF A JOIN IS?!?!?!

@lorne-kates NodeBB also has support for Redis, so we can't use any MongoDB aggregation features that can't be replicated in Redis. :(
