Favicon with notifications count
-
I've noticed that when I have notifications, the favicon looks weird. It's supposed (I guess) to be the normal favicon with the number of notifications super-imposed, but it actually looks like there is an additional "1" on it, and maybe also a red
boobsquare or something else.Favicon with no notifications:

Hmm...what browser? This is from chrome 63, 64-bit Linux:
And 64-bit FF 57 on Linux:

Repro'd on mobile.

I have no clue what my mobile is doing, but it isn't anything that is yet described here.

@tsaukpaetra By 'mobile' I meant 'phone'.

That is my phone.
-
@tsaukpaetra That is a very large phone.

Nah, just set to a not-insane I'm-not-a-granny DPI setting.
-
@tsaukpaetra Let me re-clarify. by 'mobile' I meant 'phone with a standard DPI setting'.

240 was the standard. Then phone makers decided users used their fists more often than not and upped it to 380 and even higher.

@tsaukpaetra These things you are saying are true. They are not, however, relevant.

If that's from the same account, at the same time, I think you may have found a different bug...

It was close to the same time. I thought about retaking the first shot but there was a warthog at the door.

We updated the favicon library recently... New version doesn't make the favicon look janky if your icon is a high resolution.
Apparently we traded bugs?

Is the new version in 1.7.3 or is it newer than that?
-
Oh it was awhile ago... Before 1.7.3... if you can narrow it to a specific browser or with repro steps that'd be good. I've seen it happen to me as well.
-
@boomzilla Sorry, was away for a few days...
Anyway, this is on Windows + Opera, uh, some recent version... let me check... 50.0 apparently.
Also, I just reloaded the tab and now I don't get any notification number in the favicon, even though I still have 10+ unread notifications. And it's not the same icon as before, now it's the face instead of the in various snapshots here?
So either there was an update that changed it, or there is something else complicating things (I suspect this, because I think that before I reloaded the favicon was showing something that looked like "6", and I have neither 6, nor 16, 26 or 60-something notifications, so maybe the favicon did not pick up all notifications correctly?).
