In what way? Ajax form POST?
There's some CORS in there too, since it's on a different subdomain.

Ugh, Google Chrome shows this thing on all tabs (and dismissing it kills the debugger) and also shows the scary permission "Read and change all your data on websites you visit" just because I need to use the
Network.emulateNetworkConditions
API.

Wat.
Edit: Holy crap you're right! WTF design choice is that???!?!?

Status: Some dude called my direct number asking for "Bradley".
I almost responded, "They're not here, but if you want I can probably substitute."
Would that have been too weird?
-
@tsaukpaetra That 30 minute request had a 100MiB payload. Chrome claims 1.4MB have been transferred total for the entire page, and that only 2.1KB of that is included in the 6 requests shown.
-
@ben_lubar Hmm.... Well, have you tried uploading directly via the API?
I'm assuming you'd have full control over your HTTP client at that point and can limit it there.

I've been looking at the API and two things jumped out at me:
- The ResumableMedia function in the Go version of the API is marked as deprecated.
- There's no way to specify half the fields, so I'd have to use my web browser to set most of it up anyway.
-
@ben_lubar said in The Official Status Thread:
Resumable
I thought they got rid of that a while ago?
I'm not too savvy, but aren't HTTP uploads able to be resumed as well as downloads? Never tried it tbh.@ben_lubar said in The Official Status Thread:

Well, yeah, but the point is you'd have more control over the upload process itself, which is what you were complaining about.
-
@tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:

Yeah, the requests sent by my browser have headers like this:
Content-Range:bytes 3389843621-3494701220/4305504060

Is it bad that I could tell that it came from something NSFW just by the positioning (and cropping)? :P

@heterodox yes.

@blakeyrat said in The Official Status Thread:
"shitty OS with crappy UI that is full of bugs and requires tons of tinkering all the time"
I am pretty sure that describes every OS ever made, actually.
But yes, I should have said, "Is widely perceived to be a direct competitor by people in the industry".
Not by people outside of the industry, of course, because that would require them to know that Linux exists. And what an operating system is. And that Windows is one, and is more than just Office and a web browser. Since none of these are things most of them have any need to know, few do.
OTOH, this is all a tempest in a teapot, since lately most people use iOS or Android for everything, anyway. It is at the point where desktop computers have become "that thing you use at work", or more often, "that thing the boss's secretary uses", while laptops are "those things hipster computer guys use while sitting around in coffee shops".
-
@scholrlea said in The Official Status Thread:

You are kidding arent you ?
Are you saying that this linux can run on a computer without windows underneath it, at all ? As in, without a boot disk, without any drivers, and without any services ?
That sounds preposterous to me.
If it were true (and I doubt it), then companies would be selling computers without a windows. This clearly is not happening, so there must be some error in your calculations. I hope you realise that windows is more than just Office ? Its a whole system that runs the computer from start to finish, and that is a very difficult thing to
acheive. A lot of people dont realise this.Microsoft just spent $9 billion and many years to create Vista, so it does not sound reasonable that some new alternative could just snap into existence overnight like that. It would take billions of dollars and a massive effort to achieve. IBM tried, and spent a huge amount of money developing OS/2 but could never keep up with Windows. Apple tried to create their own system for years, but finally gave up recently and moved to Intel and Microsoft.
Its just not possible that a freeware like the Linux could be extended to the point where it runs the entire computer fron start to finish, without using some of the
more critical parts of windows. Not possible.I think you need to re-examine your assumptions.

Status: watching several blind guys engage in a slap fight over at OSDev.org.
Now, to be fair, I was the idiot responsible for starting all that almost a year ago. But the fact that it is still going strong is weirdly amusing to me, especially since most of the arguments are pretty much "I like this better" with nothing backing them up.

Good Morning @tsaukpaetra,

@tsaukpaetra Good point.

@lb_ That has to be the best mascot character ever. It's like... overly tall. And PC-like. And has an expression more awkward than even Dreamworks can manage.

Status: Got my VR stuff up and running again. As expected, the next preview update fixed the broken one. I think I'll turn those off when I get home.
I tried out Galaxy Explorer and Free the Night, but neither of them really work in standing mode, because they put the ground at eye level.
And I finally tried out MasterpieceVR, which is a truly awesome 3D sculpting app. All in all, things are really cool.
Today I may try playing through some of Skyworld properly.

Status again: I bought Dragon Ball FighterZ early on Steam. They didn't let any PC users try the beta. But the days left, my clock says they're under NINE!

The best response anyone could really make at this point would be “OK, Chuckles. If you want that, you go off and make it. Prove us wrong. I double dare you with extra sprinkles on top.” It's childish, but it at least it doesn't pretend to engage or give the impression that the idiots can expect help.

Status: npm is freaking out, and my page isn't loading. My mind wanders...
What would be a fun thing to try to sculpt in VR? Anyone have any ideas? I could probably make, like, a sword or something.
Note that I'm a noob, only slightly artistic, and will categorically refuse suggestions.

You mean like with a VR paintbrush in 3D?
Sculpt a self-portrait and post the results!
-
@ben_lubar said in The Official Status Thread:

A paintbrush, where the paint slowly/quickly fills a 'brush' shape, which can be several polygons. There is also a brush option that basically spawns ribbons. All the sculpting tools also have subtractive versions, and there's a wide variety of other things, too.

That sounds like the worst idea. I could possibly do it if I tried hard enough, but I don't wanna.
