Just plain awful website
-
-
That has to be a joke. Please, tell me it's a joke. My faith in humanity would slip even closer towards negative infinity if I found out that someone out there thinks that is a good design...
-
That was actually painful to look at, and I don't just mean from the perspective of a developer...
-
It changed back in November '06:
We've had something like this before, and it was a 'genuine' site, in that you could place legitimate orders on it. Apparently.
-
Great, now it's burned into my corneas
-
Good news: it appears to be down now. Bad news: you won't get to learn about the genius behind this wonderful site design. For some reason, he is not wearing a shirt in his photo.
-
Christ you could've included a health warning or something with that link!

The fox smoking the blunt is epic. The filename suggests it's supposed to be a cat (gato), but I'm sticking with fox.

Link? There's no way in hell I'm searching through that crappile for it.
-
Seems to be genuine. At least one of the pages has this background, which seems to be what their shop looks like:
Seems to be even the same "style" especially if the bit of gold coloured stuff at the top right is a huge "Yvette's" logo.
-
Dejà Vu ?

Where to start? The random color choices? The bizarre floating... object that just circles around my monitor no matter where I turn? The god-awful MSPaint image near the bottom with the random Asian characters that don't even seem to be consistant with a single language?
But, let's forget that and look at the good things about this site... for example, Yvette's has RED HATS!!! The music is soothing, and it has a possibly edible chocolate cake recipe.

Thanks, I would have posted the link but I was on an iPhone at the time.

That's not to say it actually is a real business, just that someone is still 'maintaining' the site. There are some 2010 links there, for example.

You can still see it's a cat, right? 1-0 for the
contemporaryEGA graphics artist. And to top it off, he got world famous today.Maybe he just needs some helpful directions on acquiring a 24-bit display output thingie.

Do they actually say that he designed the web site (as opposed to just some of the paintings)? Though he certainly might be both, or else they're both heavy smokers ifyouknowwhatimean...

Wow, that site made it into Vincent Flanders' "Worst Web Pages In The World" list (http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/the-worst-web-page-in-the-world/).

I think my eyeballs just melted. They didn't even do that the first time I saw goatse.
This is Eighth Circle of Hell material. Really: one of the punishments will be having to use an entire web that looks like this.

This represents a burning fuse, the message being: get the hell out before all this blows up.
Or possibly this is an eyeball melting.

You could be onto something there - it does look a bit like an eyeball popping out complete with optic nerve

I've seen this before. The story went that someone designed them a 'proper' website that you can still see on the wayback machine, but after they refused to pay for it he decided to give them a website they deserved (which initially just a couple of pages). After the link started getting tossed around the designer has been having fun with it, taking the joke further by adding even more gonzo pages to it. So there you have it.
-
This might be some kind of viral marketing, since it is so extremely bad that it looks like they did it on purpose, so people like us spread the url.

A fox you say? Ahh so Indora wrote this site. That explains quite a bit. Furry's like bright flashing lights.
-
In one section of the page background you can see an old HP running what appears to be 9x at and insanly crap res. On that desktop i believe is an icon for Prodigy or CompuServe, I can't say exactly which but I do remeber it was an icon for a provider that was in the Online Services folder that shipped with windows 98 and the providers were The Microsoft Network, AT&T WorldNet CompuServe and Prodigy

There's no way Indora is cool enough to score a blunt.

It was just one of his furry comics he rolled and lit up. Funny thing about Indora is, that gets him more high than Harold and Kumar could every hope to get.

That's where noscript is nice :).
Hell, a site designed like that I wouldn't let through even if they were legitimately gonna give me money. Just out of contempt.

I literally had to lay my head on my desk and laugh for several minutes, tears streaming. I'm not sure which is more amusing, the music or the dancing stick-men.
-
According to the text, he seriously thinks he's some kind of Andy Warhol-like genius for shooting photos of Grape Jelly, refrigerators, Italian seasoning, and making happy stickmen dance to music.

gen-ius [jeen-yuh s]
1. an exceptional natural capacity of intellect, especially as shown in creative and original work in science, art, music, etc
Creative? Well the website didn't create itself...
Original? I don't think there's any doubt that this is original stuff.
And as a bonus it encompasses art, music and (computer) science

It says "We love South Korea" in Korean, "We love China" in traditional Chinese and "We love Japan" in Japanese.

This prompted me to actually check the HTML source... it's apparently generated by Yahoo Site Builder and uses a strange combination of div, table, spans, and font tags. It's truly a WTF to the highest degree.
I never thought I'd ever see a font tag nested in a span tag, nested in a one-cell table, nested in a div. Although I think that approach is more of a WTF on Yahoo's part, rather than Yvette's part, besides the fact that Yvette decided to go with Yahoo Site Builder to create this monstrocity.

Hey, at least it's better than a div nested in a one-cell table, nested in a span tag, nested in a font tag.

I think it has to mean 'approximately a star.'
Incidentally, I do especially love the media player stuck at random places on EACH PAGE of the site this clown 'developed' for Yvette.
And I'm stunned that few have yet mentioned the portraits of brides which this guy has produced for Yvette's presumably unsuspecting customers.
But then again: has anyone looked at the GOWNS Yvette sells? Especially those for the, er, 'fuller figure.' Maybe the site design isn't so out of tune with the 'classiness' of Yvette's business, after all? You can see its tasteful and charming frontage on this page: http://yvettesbridalformal.com/BdaySean1.html
