MORE Microsoft Photoshop Disasters?

  • On the .NET Compact Team Blog, the banner at the top of the page caught my eye...

Bottom row, second to the right. Also, the guy in the middle row, far left.

Didn't Microsoft already have another issue with photoshopping images on their sites before?

  • It looks to me like there are a lot more people than that composited into this image. The guy third from left in the back row looks out of proportion to the guy on his right, and less blurry. In the front row, the woman second from left doesn't look right, either. Of course, this isn't some ad that's facing all of their customers, it's a casual image taken (or more accurately, created) for a blog posting. So not nearly as big of a deal as the previous issue. But good catch!

  • When did Microsoft get taken over by Indians?

By looking at some of the pixels and having been into quite a few shops in my time, I would say that the only people really there are the ones standing at the back - white guy excepted - they have the correct amount of blur for the depth of field. The entire front two rows are pasted in.

Presumably the team is widely geographically dispersed and they thought this made more sense than flying them all to the same place for a group photoshoot.

Also presumably they did it in MS Paint.

    FTFY.

  • Discourse touched me in a no-no place

'Taken over by' or 'started employing' or 'started employing in sufficient numbers to make US citizens redundant'?
Please note that one of them is now grounds for cessation of your site under some obscure rule of some obscure court from some obscure judge.

  • Which one is tuberodent?

Reminds me of the Intel TV commercial about "Ajay Bhatt co-inventor of USB". Just out of curiousity I looked up Ajay Bhatt and found this Wikipedia entry:

Ajay Bhatt rose to global celebrity as the co-inventor of USB through an Intel TV Advertisement, where he was portrayed by actor Sunil Narkar.

WTF? They didn't use the real guy? OK. Maybe he's really shy or wasn't available. Then why bother? Did they figure all Indians look alike and nobody would notice?

Remember, Intel want their brand to look sexy. They can't use real Intel staff - They'd be too ugly like the rest of us "normal" (i.e. non-actor) people!! :-)

IIRC, the guy in the ad was pretty ugly. They obviously just wanted someone who was an actor and who fit the narrative they were trying to weave. No need for retarded theories.

The real guy is actually better-looking, I think. Here he is:

The pictures look suspiciously composited from staff mugshots one person at a time. And either that second row either are shopped, standing in quicksand or have legs 1inch long but they certainly are not seated on anything, or kneeling. Add to that the blur for depth of field is correct but the proportions are not - making the back row look like giants with stretched shins or the center like disproportionate midgets.

At least 2 or 3 of the front row are not seated either.
