Tesla's newest driving mode is 'Chill'
-
"Tesla streamed out a new software update to its electric vehicles this week; included is a new acceleration mode called simply "Chill."
While experimenting with Chill in the Model S 100D, DragTimes found its acceleration in standard mode hit 0 to 60 in just under 4 seconds. But when in Chill mode, the Model S hit 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, which was described as "ridiculously slow, like what is even the point — no one wants to drive like that."

Chili
. I am disappoint.

@el_heffe
But does it offer Netflix?
-
@luhmann You're gonna need it to pass all that time while you're accelerating

@hungrier
Is that what the young kids call it these days?

It's still faster than my current car, and that's still very happy to out-accelerate most drivers on the road if I want it to. (There's usually no point; I just get to the next red traffic light a few seconds sooner at best, and usually not even that.)

Usually the acceleration is controlled by how much you press the accelerator pedal, is it different in tesla?
-
@adynathos I'm assuming that the accelerator position is read by the onboard computer as a normalized value, and that switching modes would basically reduce the maximum acceration, giving you more control over a smaller range
Or maybe it uses machine learning, fuck if I know

so selecting chill might indeed start Netflix and put the seats in reclining position ... or it rolls down the window and asks for the price with it's Kitt voice ...
