In 2016, Apple updated its Photos app to recognise more than 4,000 objects, scenes and facial expressions using image recognition. But one Twitter user this week discovered her iPhone had a "hidden folder" labelled "brassiere".
Model Chrissy Teigen also noticed the bizarre feature on her own phone.

Apple has been automatically sorting photographs on iPhones for about a year but this week some savvy iPhone users discovered one of the folders contains some images that are a little more revealing.

Look at the article and see how many other things (such as other body parts and other articles of clothing) it doesn't know how to categorize, remember that all that code was written by some real person somewhere, and ponder the implications for a moment...

I'd assume they acquired thousands of images of training data to train the AI with. The implications in that case are even worse.

Is there a complete list anywhere, I wonder?

Maybe the goal wasn't malicious.
Maybe it was trained for boobs so it could handle it more discreetly if it needed to?

Do the implications have to be negative?
What if you had a sharing app, and it checked to see if the image was under that category, and then popped up a warning?

Apple doesn't actually store your pictures, according to the article, or run a search engine, so that means they intentionally fed their machine learning algorithm pictures of boobs as opposed to what Google does where it matches pictures to nearby text across the internet.

That's still a bit iffy though. "We detected you're showing too much cleavage on your photo, are you sure it's a good idea to send it?"
I mean, I wouldn't want my phone to patronize me, whether it's the photo app telling me sending tits to strangers is a bad idea, or Apple Pay reminding me smoking is bad when I want to buy a pack of cigs.

I would assume that "Model Chrissy Teigen" doesn't have much expertise beyond knowing what button to press to take pictures of her boobs.

SSTV is a tried and true classic for this stuff. It has the advantage of being able to be sent as an mp3, and even better, there's a good chance that the typical interceptor (read: parents) would have no clue what it was. Though, the disadvantage is that it's extremely obvious once you've heard a SSTV transmission. Of course, you only get a tiny 256x256 image.

So it happens last week, there was people talking about "We should do... <insert things from reduce wastage (that I agree), to pay more on using electricity/water/throw away garbage here>... to protect our environment... for the sake of our children's future." I was pretty close to burst that out to him. :O
Whatever you want to persuade me to do, give me good reason instead of being lazy and ask me to think of something that is non-existent to me.

The real question is, is it smart enough to tell your bra size yet, and can it notify you if the bra you're wearing is too small/large?
