I know a guy from Pakistan who is like that. He keeps insisting that if I send him source code for things, he would learn from it, and he would never ever dare to copy it verbatim.
The first and last time I did it, his work looked dangerously close to mine.
I don't expect to see him at university much longer, considering the mandatory "Beginning Java" course (about which there are so many WTFs that it would provide an entire month worth of WTFU posts for this site...) ends this Friday and he still doesn't know what instance variables are and how to write getter/setters for them.
Unrelated: Anyone know if Java will ever get sane like C# and introduce properties? getSomething/setSomething is annoying.

'Cause Java totally forbids you to put unrelated code in getters/setters. Right.

To be fair, you're a furry and even you find it frustrating to wait for the animals to come out. Imagine how the rest of us who got dragged along to the zoo and are just hoping to find a bar feel? The obvious solution is to place the animals in cramped cages so we can get a good look at them. Even better: let us watch the animals while sitting and having a beer. And why not just hook up some closed-circuit cameras so we don't have to walk from exhibit to exhibit and we don't have to smell the disgusting beasts?

We could save a lot more money by just killing and stuffing the animals, and lining them up against one wall of the bar. If we're feeling really extravagent, we could paint the wall behind them to look like their natural habitats.

'Cause Java totally forbids you to put unrelated code in getters/setters. Right.
I always figured that it was a global conspiracy to force you to use an IDE to automate the process of creating those functions.

I know a lot of students who are like that. Usually its enough to give them a few pointers (pun only a little bit intended) what they might have to do or where the error might be. Usually they are much happier with that, because they can fix what has been holding them up and continue or finally get a starting point about how they might do that. True student then continue really (try to) understand it the.
What happens if you give them code is usually: I do not understand this, but my assignment is due soon. I'll just (have to) copy paste this.

Believe me, I tried giving the guy some hints, but he's a pretty hopeless case.
Example: one part of the assignment (an application that can import movies from the IMDB) included doing some work and showing a JProgressBar. He opted to make it show in its own JFrame. Nothing wrong with that approach, of course. Then he was completely overwhelmed because he could not figure out how to communicate new progress values to the JProgressBar in the JFrame. After I told him to make a setter along the lines of
public void setProgress(int Progress, boolean Indeterminate) { /* do it yourself */ }, he looked at me as if I just spoke to him in Japanese. Long story short, I helped him through it a bit and he arrived at a point where his program worked but the progress bar never updated (it just hung). I told him to look into SwingWorker to make his application multi-threaded. I think that may have been a mistake and I should've just told him that this is how Java works.Another incident: he wanted to "stop the codings [he] writes from running [when a window popped up]". After another few minutes of discussion, it turned out he wanted to make a modal window. I told him to use JDialog instead and to look into the setModal method (which is deprecated, but easier since it takes a boolean). Of course, he went the complete opposite way, and tried making use of a while loop that tested whether the JFrame he made was still visible.
I've been doing my best to avoid the guy and think he's gotten the hint that whatever he's doing is pointless because he will fail the course anyway (70% of the mark comes from coursework).
To anyone else who still has the "joy" of going to university (and working as a C# programmer to afford going there): under no circumstances must you let people know that you know things. Your experience will be much nicer.
*sigh* ... and don't get me started about the lecturer of the course. He thinks the "finally" keyword is not important enough to mention in lectures, and he's one of those idiots who jumped onto the bandwagon that "goto" is bad without being able to offer an explanation of what makes it bad (he threatened to fail me if I "used goto in Java", forgetting that Java does not support it).

I was in this situation in an introductory Java course in college as well. Unfortunately, the leech in question knew where I lived, since he lived just down the hall. I happened to live in a room next to a lounge that had a balcony, and if you stood on the balcony you could sort of see into my room through the window. I came home late one night, on a weekend, and my roommate told me "that guy who always needs your help with computer stuff is creeping me out." Apparently this guy had knocked on the door at around 12:30 AM, laptop in hand, looking for me. My roommate had looked through the peephole, seen who it was, and decided to ignore him. This prompted the guy to go out on the balcony and try to see into the room through the window, calling my name and saying "I know you're in there!"
On another occasion he mistook the joystick hooked up to my computer for an electric razor. I believe he dropped out of the CS program fairly quickly.

As previously noted I am a voyeur of furries and indulge in public observations of their antics only when they are constrained to displays in zoos. However Morbs being a Grasshopper does not make him a furry. The insectoid aspects of his chosen path tends to appeal to those who enjoy being constrained in a tight chitinous binding rather than a plush and flexible covering. So technically Morbs is an Orthopterry, or more specifically a Caeliferry
Because of his classification the thought of observing Morbs in his playtime rituals does not appeal to me at all (in fact the very thought makes me become a little nauseous).
However I do understand that peoples desire encompasses a full spectrum of interests rather than one or two socially acceptable choices, so I cannot chide you for being drawn to something that I am not. Instead I would counsel you to act upon your desires and embrace Morbs in his full glory. Even if you find out that the ways of the Caeliferries are not truly that of your own, you will at least have looked deep into your own essence and will be able to hold your head high and proclaim - This is me!
