Active news wtf

  •  I was browsing the Fox News website and apparently either people still hold a grudge against Wal-Mart or there haven't been very many popular stories in entertainment over the past year:

     news wtf

I suppose the other WTF is that the only real entertainment story there is Imus on 'Hannity'.

  •  Sure this is not a screenshot from The Onion?

You missed that? It even made the news overseas. Google returns:

Sure, it's been a year ago, maybe that's why people remembered it. (And isn't all Fox news just "entertainment"?)

I don't watch much news, and certainly not online.

  • @Daid said:

I'd argue that all national news networks are just entertainment.

  • Not surprising at all. 12 months after shopper stampede at wal-mart kills a security guard there was a lot of stories about what companies were going to do this year to avoid the same outcome. Given that the current stories would have referenced last years tragedy I'm not surprised that last years story ranked high again.

  • TRWTF is that the only story in that list that counts as entertainment is the Imus/Hannity piece.  And arguably that's "politics" more than entertainment.

  • The original story occurred in 2008 on so-called Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving in the US, which annually features massive retail sales and sometimes panicked shoppers. The story became relevant again as Black Friday 2009 rolled around. So not even close to a WTF.

What, did he come up with something racist to say about him?

If you don't consider the terrible, painful death of a Wal-Mart worker to be entertainment, you are TRWTF.

At the very least they could have made a new story comparing this year to last year like many news sites and blogs and pushed that. Maybe it's a sign of how low quality of news has gone in the year that the Messiah has been in office.

Imus is, like, a million years old, wears a cowboy hat on the radio and sounds like he is doped-up on tranquilizers most of the time.  Racism is probably a high point for him.

I doubt it was very painful.  Given how fat the average Wal-Marter is, he was probably squished to a jelly instantaneously.

I think it was from people linking back to the old story; presumably the 'TOP STORIES IN X' list is generated by pageviews.

Yeah, way to stick it to those Obama-worshippers over at... FOX?

Well, if you think about it, news at MSNBC sucks because of the Obama-worshippers, news at Fox News sucks because they hate Obama so much, and news at CNN sucks because they're trying so hard to stay square in the middle.

That's why I get my news from the only reasonable, unbiased source available: Jessie Ventura.

Seriously, what in the fucking hell happened to Minnesota?  Did we test nuclear weapons there?  Jesse Ventura, Michele Bachmann and now Al Franken.  Isn't that droning dipshit Garrison Keillor from there too?  Have they always been nuts?

They have a funny accent and have Vikings as their football team, Twins as their baseball team, and Wild as their hockey teams. That sounds pretty nuts to me.
