Hertz 404

It's probably just maintenance?
Lenovo's website has similar things happen every other weekend while the outsourced Chinese programmers try to push their latest changes to the ThinkPad Device Driver Matrices online.

Maybe, but:
1) A maintenance page should be a lot more informative and not return a 404 error code (I checked, it does).
2) A company as prominent as Hertz shouldn't be having downtime from maintenance. This is what HA is for. If they absolutely must schedule maintenance, they could do it at 3:00 AM local time on a Sunday.
A small WTF, but a WTF indeed.
As a side note: at first I assumed the title was referring to "404 cycles" and figured I was in for an electrical WTF, or perhaps a microprocessor with a mislabeled frequency. I imagine I won't be the only one.

http://www.hertz.de/ works though.

You know, not every sidebar thing has to be earth-shattering amazingly awesome super-duper WTFs. But this is probably the lamest, stupidest WTF I've seen here. Sorry: even the spam is more entertaining.
Here! Go to this site, look, an error page!!!1

Thanks for that hint ;-) But this 404 is still there and it was there for quite a while already. It might just qualify for a WTF. Still I also think it's not the best.

Surely TRWTF is that an error page on a .de site is displayed in English rather than German?

I was about to post a similar WTF involving my state's train system "erail" site. http://erail.qr.com.au used to present a form to login, but it would always present a 404 on attempts. However, it now redirects to the real site, at http://erail.qr.com.au/erail/ (to be fair, this was the URL in Google but I wanted to test it out). But then using the login form on this new page never worked. I even apparently locked my account out from too many login attempts: pressing enter didn't submit the form properly. But they've fixed that too! So this post is now anti-WTF. Now the only WTFs are to do with the actual trains. The last few weeks have had trains hours late! A bit of a schmozzle...
BTW, the Hertz site now works, AFAICT.
