Paste image does not replace selected text
-
- Write some text.
- Think that you can be more clever by putting a meme picture instead, so go find one and copy it to your clipboard.
- Select the text that you wrote to replace it by the picture, and hit Ctrl-V.
Expected result: all the world can now see your awesomeness through the picture that someone else did rather than the lameness of your own imagination.
Actual result: the selected text is still there, after the code for the pasted picture.
(this works OK with text)
(Opera 40+something or whatever the numbers are today)

Select the text that you wrote to replace it by the picture, and hit Ctrl-V.Remember that that is exactly what Jeff did and also that people might look at the forum from mobile with limited bandwith. Then decide to just post the text
4. Just post the goddamn text
Also Filed Under: I understand the underlying "bug" but that is a to the joke that I made

For some reason no web developers know how copy-and-paste is supposed to work.

Oh, we're doing these? I have an even better one.
- Google image search something.
- Find a good picture to use.
- Right click and copy from the large preview that GIS has.
- Paste it here.
-
Damn, at first I did not notice the category and read the original post....then I wasted about 10 minutes testing in different [non-Browser] application that supported text....THEN I paid attention....

@pie_flavor or
2 1/2. Click "view image"
3. Right click and copy from the image itself instead of the GIS preview

@anotherusername assuming the image is available.

Rehost Image.
Who hosts it
The extension is called 'imgur Uploader'.
I have it set to use direct links instead of page links, copy the link to the clipboard, and not actually open the link in a new tab.

3. Right click and copy from the image itself instead of the GIS previewComes out to the same thing for me because I use right-click to activate Imagus. But generally it'll either complain that it's too big, or say that there's some other unspecified problem.

I do that all the time and I've never gotten that. Must have been something weird with that particular image.
ETA: Or a Windows thing?
