Why flash weenies should be dragged into the street and shot.

  •  Allow me to intorduce you to www.frank.gr. I'm not sure what exactly it's about; I suspect it's a marketing company as the amount of jibberish is overwhelming.

    Usage instructions:

    1. Find a pillow, place it on your desk.

    2. Click on link

    3. Ring "doorbell"

    4. Click on "philosophy"

    5. Use the "Frank wheel".

    6. Headdesk (aim for pillow).

  • I made the Frank wheel spin around and around and around very fast! It was fun. I could see the aliasing effect when its speed begain to exceed my frame rate. :)

  • @FRANK said:

"Brands no longer tell consumers what to do and how to think. FRANK believes that consumers invite the brand into their conversation and brands should try to engage him in a meaningful and interesting relationship.

Oh, this is great! Someone ought to give FRANK a good talking-to about their own branding efforts.

If you spin it fast enough, at some point it just stops and won't spin at all any more.

  • Nice!

Also, if you click on the raven silhouette (in the bottom right), it shows you the Frank Brand Dogma Pentagram.

    WTF?

It does start to spin again eventually if you persuade it to go in the opposite direction. My guess is there's a simple "position += speed" type of thing on it, with protection against overflow on that, instead of modular arithmetic. Very sensible.

Bonus WTF (edit): All the categories on the Frank Wheel are seemingly hyperlinks (pointy-hand cursor) that go nowhere. They just light up the pretty colours.

  • Personally I find the logo on the main page that lights up as you move the mouse left and right to be even worse.

I thought that was a loading bar. When it stopped, I thought my internet connection went out.

So did I! I wondered why it approached 0 width fluidly and asymptotically; not normally aspects of loading bars.

    Then, I moved the mouse.

Apparently you're supposed to click the solid chunk of color next to them.  Because that's totally how everything else on the web works, right?

  • I think I just figured this out: If you click on the "en" in the corner, you can see the site was apparently done by a dog.

  • I'm going to make a website just so I can have a wheel like that one.

Btw. cheers for the pillow tip, saved my keyboard!

But he won't write in English until he falls in love with an English puddle?

Duh, of course, silly me! Anyway, the indivdual links still go nowhere; you just get the wheel moving into a corner and the centre text + sidebar changing to some guff about 'Channel Thinking' or similar. Pity; I wanted to see the electron-micrographs of this "Brand DNA" they've found.

On the other hand, it could be a blessing in disguise; I'm not sure that 'Consumer Touchpoints' or especially 'Consumer Lovepoint' would be SFW...
