Android Oreo

I find Oreos gritty and icky nasty.

Android Oreo will affect every Android user
Apart from people with a phone more than 3 weeks old that's not a Nexus/Pixel
(Still waiting for the promised Nougat update for my Moto X Play)

/me eats an entire carton of oreos to apologize to the Goddess Oreo for the slander visited upon her by @RaceProUK

@accalia I find American candy and biscuits to be tacky and nasty in general, certainly compared to the European alternatives. Hershey's chocolate is especially bad in that respect: it feels like I'm eating cement dust.

-shrug- as long as it's less than their tax burdeon i doubt they care as they'll just get their tame accountants to figure out how to make the royalties a tax writeoff.

With KitKat, apparently no money changed hands. Android gets a recognisable brand name to piggyback on and the sweet manufacturer gets free advertising.
And I'm firmly of the belief that oreos only appeal to adults who have nostalgic memories of eating them as children. Since they only came to the UK in any numbers a few years ago, there aren't really any adults here who have that

I grew up eating Hydrox, of which Oreo is the later knock-off product. They haven't been available for a while but I found a package in a store a couple of months ago.

Good point. Maybe it's the other way round, and sweet manufacturers queue up to beg Google to name the next Android version from their products...
-
@remi If that's the case, here's my guess what the next Android will be: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paynes_Poppets
-
@raceprouk I'd rather have Penguin... with "fun" penguiny facts on the side of each phone!
(edit: should it be "fun" facts or fun "facts"?)

When I had the "opportunity" to try an original Hershey's I likened the aftertaste to baby vomit. None of my friends who also tasted the stuff disagreed.

@raceprouk @jaloopa Oreos are just chocolate graham crackers with cheap filling. The cracker part is actually pretty num.

You should go to Red Lobster sometime. They've got really amazing biscuits.

Seriously, there are much better American chocolate makers. Try this:

Even better because you can eat them right out of the oven, whereas they're not always immediately fresh in the restaurant.

Well, you're in luck! A friend of mine recently had a baby so plenty of baby vomit for you!
Just send me a PM with your adress.
There might be some problems with shipping, however, as hermetically sealed containers are viewed with distrust but we can probably solve that somehow.
-
@rhywden Just send it in a plain envelope, it'll be fine

Naw, but the stuff tastes the same so I'm not seeing the big difference

Hmmm...so you weren't eating it...just swish it around a bit like at a wine tasting?
How do you feel about Parmesan cheese? Are you one of those weirdos who also thinks fish taste good? Do you think cilantro tastes like soap?

Personally I refuse to acknowledge any chocolate other than Lindt.

Yeah, we don't have those either. From what I've heard about Graham crackers (which, every time I heard an American say it, I thought were called gram crackers) they're similar to digestive biscuits

It is an expense, so it is a write-off. A marketing expense.

strangely that doesn't answer my question.
or maybe it does and it just makes me ask more questions....
i think this discussion's a bit too much for this thread though. best table it for later, yeah?

@jaloopa Pretty much. Grahams are probably "best" known for using honey instead of caster sugar.

You're not wrong. They use butyric acid, the compound principally responsible for the unpleasant flavor and odor of human vomit, as part of the chocolate-making process.

Every time I see someone say "The proof is in the pudding", I die a little bit inside.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
-
@pie_flavor I know. I'm just finding a way to take the horrible, nonsensical twisting of a decent phrase and make it into something that (kinda sorta) makes sense. :P

I'd rather have it in a respected peer-reviewed journal.
