Re: Free, decent, video editing software?

Lightworks - "you'll probably find that the interface is a little different to anything you're used to"
Shortcut - "The slightly unusual interface can be put down to the fact that this started life as a Linux application"
HitFilm Express - "Getting hold of HitFilm Express is something of a palaver. You can’t just hit a link and download the software. Instead you have to take part in active promotion for the developer by sharing the fact that you're downloading it to social media."
VSDC Free Video Editor - "it works in rather a different way to many other similar tools"
Jesus Fucking Shit On A Shingle
Does anyone make normal software any more?

I tried that once. Couldn't figure out how to do 95% of what I wanted to do, which was compile several clips into a video with a few extra sound effects.
And Chrome, why do you not recognise 'compile' as a word?

What? I've used it myself and it looks pretty similar to what I've seen of paid video editing software.

That's about the most common thing I do with it. Just drag the video and audio in from Windows Explorer, and adjust their start and end times on the timeline.

@lb_ I also wanted to do a bit of picture-in-picture and use a few basic transitions. And it took anywhere from twice to ten times longer to figure it out than it took in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.
You know something is bad when it's bested by Adobe software that's over a decade old.
-
@raceprouk For picture in picture, you just resize one of the videos on the scene and then overlap it on the timeline. Not sure about transitions, though - I've never needed to do that.
-
@lb_ The 'what' wasn't the problem: it was the 'how' that was a pain.

Star fade?

No, just normal fade-in/fade-out.

@el_heffe Adobe, Apple and whoever bought Sony Vegas from Sony a few months back.
If you don't have the same basic UI as them, you're the weird one.

@el_heffe Adobe
Yes. i use a lot of Adobe stuff, especially Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects. I generally consider their UI to be the correct way of doing things

Same with Lightshot for me, I didn't find it that weird at all.
