Where to go in the World
-
I got some serious money in the account
I've been to Thailand, Spain, Singapore.
Where else can I go for a few grand?
Fast cars and Motrocycles are a bonus ... anything that makes up for the fact I grew up with a massive white cock and not a massive black cock
-
Vietnam? Top Gear did a special there, and it looks beautiful.
-
@raceprouk Did something similar with my mate in Thailand
Was thinking about doing something like this
http://www.theadventurists.com/mongol-rally/
I reckon I could nick my girlfriends Micra and it would make it.
Just finished working, dunno whether top take a few months off and smash the work again or go on a grand adventure
The latter seems exciting but at the same time, I need to get something out of it the other side.
-
@lucas1 Cross the Darién Gap. On foot.
Before you consider that advice, you should also remember that I hate you and hope you get kidnapped, murdered, or poisoned by some horrible creature. Maybe all three simultaneously.
-
@blakeyrat I love you too. :-)
-
@lucas1 I kinda wanna do that rally but I wanna do it in my astra as it is basically going to be worthless in England until I buy a Jag or an S2000 or something that can keep up with me.
-
I think @tufty might have a few ideas even if the first few are walking off a cliff.
-
@lucas1 Find somewhere with car tracks you can run? There are some around here, but I assume you can get some much nearer.
-
@wharrgarbl My car can go anywhere. The Mongol rallyb requires a 1000cc car which is soo wimpy. I can barely bring myself to fix my GF car.
A socket set and persistence solves most problems.
-
@lucas1 Sure, but I think there are better stuff near UK. The one around here is Velopark. I didn't find an english version of their website. Google gave me http://www.racingcircuits.info/south-america/brazil/velopark.html
-
@wharrgarbl I am sure I have raced that track in a game. I don't think my EcoFlex astra can be amazing aroung there. Even if I just fitted some dunlops (they were £2 more expensive per tyre).

You voted for Brexit, right? So probably not Europe. Maybe Scotland?
If you like going around in big circles, you might try Daytona, FL. Beaches + Nascar.

And this one too http://racingcircuits.info/south-america/brazil/taruma.html
-
@wharrgarbl Maybe but I would have to rent a track car, I don't think my Astra EcoFlex could get near to the speed of the circuit.
Maybe I should go to south america, lots of cool stuff and probably cheap other than the flight.
Good shout.

Vietnam is nice. And let's say that this Top Gear episode has also helped me to decide to go there. But even on the motorway most people drive 60 km/h (35-40 mph) in the left lane, so you can forget the "fast cars and motorcycles" there.

I hear Antarctica is pretty cool.
-
New Zealand, or Scott Amundsens Base?
I believe both channel their internet connection via MilwaulkeePC.
-
Sign up for a Mars mission
-
If you want some kind of racing, I guess the Nürburgring should be on your list? Although it's probably no fun without a decent car.
(I am not a car enthusiast and what I know about cars comes from Top Gear, so... not really a trustworthy source!)
If you just want to drive around nice roads and countryside without going too far from home, there are many enjoyable places in central France, Germany, northern Italy... basically anywhere in Europe which is not in the middle of cities and is somewhat hilly.
Further abroad, you could try South Africa (mostly south/west coasts). They drive on the right side, after all.

Don't need to go that far. Just come to Canada !
You just have to find a way around that little pond.
And don't forget your winter tires.
I know we are in August, what's your point ?
-
@remi I would have to rent something like a fast merc or bmw.
-
@jaloopa If I went to mars, I would come back from mars just to piss you off.
-
@dreikin Oh comon man just because I voted for British sovereignty doesn't mean I hate the rest of the world.

You, uh, already responded to that:
@lucas1 said in Where to go in the World:
@dreikin LOL nice try mate. Don't worry I am like Zen these days compared to @SlackerD
And I did include a serious, if possibly sorely lacking, suggestion below that:

-
@Dreikin I might look at Nascar, Daytona.
I probably would be more into drag racing in the US.

I would probably do a sex wee during that.
-
It is kinda difficult for me to go gallivanting around the world again. I have a 4 good mates in England that I know I could turn up on their doors in ten years time and I know they would welcome me with open arms.
I have a GF that is getting near thirty though that kinda might want kids now. I can feel it in ever convo.
But at the same this the first time I have the money to go away an enjoy my life. @Tufty and @SlackerD won't fucking get it but this is the first time I have had some freedom from working immediately again since I was 16.
So I dunno what to do. I will decide myself. But going to the US while I would want to go is prohibitively expensive (just the flights)
-
Drive to Mars. It might take a lot of gas, but I'm sure you can do it!
