Another silly Java question

  • I answer questions on Allexperts.com. I get a lot of odd (often homework) questions from India and various Asian countries. Here is one I got today:

    Questioner: somashekar

Subject: encoding in client /server using  steganography

Question:  could u send me good algorithm codes on java to establish the connection

Very typical vague question that wants me to 'u plz send code' to solve their current assignment. Not knowing what steganography was a quick google check revealed that it is sending messages in a hidden way.

I feel really tempted just to reply 'no u', but I won't, nor will I try to explain: "Have the user print out a forum with the name on the mailing address a special code for the message you want to send. E.g. Send to Pricy Jones if the computer has priated goodies, and Crystal Newhart if you couldn't find any".

Why not? do it fgt. :|

  •  What the fuck are you guys talking about?

I know what steganography is, but I have no fucking clue what the OP is talking about.  And the reply is the most random and fucked up first post I've ever seen.

  • This is a valid question, you just can't see it because he used his stenography algorithm codes to hide it.

  • I remember something like this happening in University. Someone kept pestering me to write him a C++ program to submit that matched his assignment. In the end I got bored of him asking and wrote a program. It did nothing it was supposed to, and it seems he didn't even try to figure out what it did as about 2 weeks later he threw some verbal expletives at me and never asked for any more help.

I don't mind helping people, but I refuse to do there work for them.

It looks like the OP's "quick google check" didn't fill him in. He probably clicked on all the wrong search results.

     Fgts.

Personally, I'm ashamed I'm not more out-of-touch with Internet "culture".

     Fgts.

I fucking know the "fgt" thing, but that doesn't explain at all the OP or the first response.  They are still completely nonsensical.

Yeah, there's no un-seeing Brian Peppers.

That's because they're written in Punjabi. I lived the life of a Punjabi mystic for nine years, so I can translate. Here goes...

Scene: The World Wide Web. Version: 2.0.

Arshad: I need help with my homework. I need to send an encrypted message from a "client" to a "server."  Can you help?

Dick: Certainly, Sir! Just make a bogus forum post with a username that conveys the actual message. For example, suppose you want to tell a partner-in-crime that a third party is actually an undercover law enforcement officer. To communicate this, you might go to some forum site and post a message from bogus user "ThatGuyWeMetSaturday@OrangutangsWasAFuckingNarc." This can be done at basically any forum site, so long as it's pre-agreed between "client" and "server." This pre-agreed site is the so-called "forum key" one so often hears of in connection with cryptography.

OMFG, I think you are right.  You are simultaneously the most insane and the most insightful person on these forums.
