A woman got fired for using too much CAPS and even putting words in bold!
LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WHAT METHOD WE USE FOR TRANSMITTING MESSAGES. There, that wasn't so annoying or was it?

My brother uses an accounting package that, for the sake of
stupidityidiotic developers, forces you to enter many fields in all uppercase. It doesn't translate "abc" to "ABC" for you - that would be too hard. So he just leaves caps-lock on, and any time he sends mail, it's just comes out as all caps.I've mentioned it to him a bunch of times, but apparently his clients are also clueless about netiquette so he has no reason to change his ways...
So a fireable offense is forthcoming: WTF!?

That's not the reason she was fired; it's the excuse.

Reading further into that particular story when it appeared on /., it would appear the woman was making rather a nuisance of herself at her job, and this email was about the only thing they (or at least her brain-dead boss) decided to use to fire her.
Seems they don't do verbal/written warnings or performance reviews where she used to work, and decided to go for the instant dismissal.

When submitting the OP, I had put <TAG DELETED> in the tag field, but Community Server helpfully lower cased it. Probably trying to save my job :-)

That or CS thinks when someone uses a tag someone else has used before with different casing, the first user used the right casing and the second one just made a mistake, and magically fixes it.

What you forgot to add was that she sued them for wronful dismissal and actually won the lawsuit, winning around 17.000 dollars (i think new zealand dollars) for it.
The email was not a valid reason to be fired, her boss had to come up with it because they fired her because no one liked her but didn't had any particular evidence for firing her, so he had to come up with something.

The article I linked to was dated 3rd of september so I assumed it was a recent event.The email was not a valid reason to be fired, her boss had to come up with it because they fired her because no one liked her but didn't had any particular evidence for firing her, so he had to come up with something.
