Possible solution to spam problem.

Hack the forum so that any post with the word "nike" in it gets blocked. Repeat for other words often found in spam on this forum.
Also, a maximum of two links per post.

Well, on that criteria, your post (and this reply) would get canned. Not quite the desired behaviour. Do you write specs for a living?

I meant any new post. And if there wasn't spam, there would be no need for my post to contain that word.

Word blacklisting? Seriously? Did you get that from Spam Detection For Dummies circa 1998?

How about having a silently enforced posting rate limit? When a user goes over the limit, the forum hides their posts from everyone else until a mod can peek.

Wouldn't catch the recent spammer(s) I've noticed. They tend to post 4-10 spams ~0600UTC, then bugger off for the day, or maybe occasionally posting the odd spam during the day. This is someone spamming 'by hand' I reckon - they don't appear to be using a 'bot.
And that solution sounds like it would require modifying Community Server anyway.

If I ever get the power to
destroy my enemiesclean up forum spam, I would program JesusBot to delete posts by known spammers. How would I know who is a known spammer? I'd have a handful of trusted users (you know who you are) whose abuse reports WRT to spam would be taken as authoritative. JesusBot already scans all the forum posts anyway and writing terrible daemons that interact with Community Server via screen-scraping and form-posting is a time-tested skill of mine. In fact, you could say I'm the foremost world expertNow, if only someone would give me mod powers so I could
crush thosee who stand in my wayimprove the quality of TDWTF experience for everyone.

Block the spammers IP range. It's some poor country where the time it takes for them to manually spam appears to actually earn them a living.
