My favorite color is Hitler

@el_heffe See, Comic Sans could have prevented this....
-
What is Jlitter?
-
It's not even really a bad choice of font. It's positioning the initial "g" so that its base is level with the midline of the other characters, and its descender is level with the base of the other characters.
Unless that's in the design of the "g" in that font, in which case the font is stupid and its designers should feel bad.
Still doesn't answer the question of why it's being read as "Hitler" rather than "Hitter". The cross clearly goes across both uprights.

Because the horizontal stroke between the two t’s coincides with the bottom of the second O in color, and because the glittery gold is easier to see against the black background than against the white of the text.
-
Looks more like "My favorite color is Hitter" to me.

At a glance, one might not know.
And some people punch Nazis.
-
@scarlet_manuka Agreed. That
g
is stupid. It looks like a scriptJ
orF
.
-
I clicked through to the store and it appears they've changed it.
-
@hungrier Yes that
G
is far more sensible.

They put a new picture up, but I wonder how many of those bags with the old font are sitting in a warehouse somewhere.
-
@el_heffe All that old stock most likely will Nazi the light of day

How did the designers nazi the problem in the first place? It seemed to cause quite a fuhrer on Twitter.

Are you sure the bag isn't blue and white?

None. They Aryan out

Could you imagine bumping into one of them in some store's clothing heil?

If you think the bag looks like an electric razor, you may want to get your sight checked :P

Moral of the story: seriously, just stop using cursive already. It's confusing and hard to read (as evidenced here) and only ever existed as a workaround for a specific problem that's been obsolete for more than a century.

Handwriting's been obsolete for over a century?

Huh? I felt like breaking a chain of Hitler/Third Reich references.

If the "g" had a descender it would've significantly increased the area of the bag that needed to be printed. If the size of the rectangle that they print in is directly correlated to the cost of having it printed, it could have been a cost decision.
Using an uppercase "G" would've solved the issue entirely, though...

The need for a specific style of handwriting that minimizes the number of times you lift your quill pen off of the paper between letters, so as to minimize the number of unsightly ink blots left behind by doing so, has been obsolete for over a century.
-
Handwriting per se has only been obsolete since the 1970s.
-
@masonwheeler jews a few years ago
-
@masonwheeler but it took computers and the internet to give the problem of writing a final solution
-
@wharrgarbl ???

What's so great about Gitler?

@boomzilla doesn't invoke Godwin's Law.

You can track down the specific commit where it became terrible.

@zecc Ok, that one's reich over the line. Everyone else is going to have to go to a facility where they can concentrate on beating it. Maybe a camp.

@anotherusername GIS doesn't give me a name for that unfortunate building. Mind sharing?
Reminds me of the county courthouse in my home town. The lobby had this nice tile floor. Before they renovated it, there were potted plants in strategic locations. Turns out the original builders (in the 20s) had put swastikas as good luck symbols...
-
@benjamin-hall search "swastika building" in Google Maps.
