Conversion table
-
Ok, this is not a code wtf, but in the sidebar this is ok, right?
While browsing trough some flickr images, I had a wtf-moment when I stumbled upon this picture:
--> its a conversion table the re-denomination of the ghanaian Cedi. I wonder for how many pages it continues!!

Hahah,
And here's an official poster: http://www.ghanacedi.gov.gh/privatecontent/Image/GhanaCedi_Conversion_Chart.jpg

I love that it says on the bottom "Ghana Cedi - The value is the same".

This isn't really a WTF if you have to deal with a population where half of the people never even went to elementary school, and can maybe add or subtract a few numbers (what you need from day to day when buying food etc.), but never learned multiplication or division. A lookup table for the conversion can be used by almost everyone, even illiterates can use it (by comparing "pictures").

You mean adding 2 zeros?

See, it is hard. (It's removing 2 zeros)

It's removing a 4 pearl bracelet: 0,000

We need and upvote system.

I notice that the "Ghana Cedi" symbol is similar to the U.S. "cents" sign... but, at least, the old version of that currency unit seems to have been worth a good deal less than a U.S. cent (I don't know the dollar value of the new one).

If BANK OF GHANA reads this: for my converters above, I have naturally used the Cedi sign (₵, U+20B5), not the cents sign (¢, U+00A2).

Thought we had one: Lack of 'report abuse' and the user's posts generally get (non troll feeding) replies to.
Seriously, would any long time (ab)users of these boards pay any attention to ratings? I'm guessing no, so that leaves newcomers.
The only time I'm exposed to the current rating scheme is when I come to the site to reply to a message. And it goes unnoticed AFAAIC. (I get new posts by email.)
Would any other scheme attract new users (that oldies would want here)?
What would another scheme add? (Xthread - does community server support such an addition?)

You damn kids and your feature requests! You've already got "Favorites" and you can give a thread a rating with the little stars not to mention the new-and-improved WYSIWYG editor that now works in 63% of all browsers and only deletes two characters when you hit backspace, like, half of the time, at most.

Bonus points for Derula. Absolutely.

I was only expressing - in my little contrived way - my contentment regarding derula's posts. U suck!

Actually I've never had any problems with the software. Sure, it sometimes deletes to characters, but this happens very rarely to me and I just shrug it off when it does.
The secret is to never make any tpying mistakes.
