Is there any computerized hardware you'd trust to be implanted into your body? Would you be prepared to upgrade to the iEye 2s? What if Samsung made the batteries?
On this note, I absolutely want cybertech. Perhaps its overexposure to cyberpunk stuff like Shadowrun and Neuromancer.
Hell, something I always thought would be neat would be if someone could find a way to make an electroluminescent tattoo ink that could then be powered by a small implanted battery with an on/off button. I'd get circuit lines down both my arms that could glow. That'd be sweet!

I'm curious as to what they'll do if those employees then leave the company. Will they mandate removal of the biochip?
They don't have to, they just disable the account in AD
-
@e4tmyl33t I'm absolutely opposed to such a thing being imposed in any way, ever.
But if you want augs? Fine by me. That's a personal thing. Except, again, there's no company I trust to make the hardware, other than large medical companies.

Pacemakers? Defibrillators?

What did you say? ()
My grandmother is deaf in one ear and my grandfather is hard of hearing. It's funny to watch them start to get into an argument. I say "start to" because they'll either be talking about totally different things or be vehemently agreeing, and they only do it for fun to tease each other. They've never actually argued about anything to my knowledge. They're a blast! :D
-
@arantor said in In other news today...:
@raceprouk think about it, though, you can legally be a parent at 16, it's feasible to be a grandfather at ~33.
Also, the sort of person who has a large facial tattoo is possibly not going to win the next Award For Cleverest Person award.
What happens when someone gets pregnant prior to 16?
-
@karla it's legally questionable.
-
Florida, of course....

@arantor said in In other news today...:
@karla it's legally questionable.
I'm not sure I am understanding.
Does that mean the consequences are legally questionable?
What are the possible consequences?Though maybe I should RTFA.
-
@da-doctah
Ah Florida, please never change.
-
@karla the age of consent is 16, therefore if one is pregnant before the age of 16, one has engaged in sex with a minor. If the other party is also a minor, something something Romeo & Juliet laws. If the other party is not a minor... that's sex with a minor and can carry a prison sentence plus time on the official sexual offenders' register.

Ah, ok...that's normal. The sex is the illegal action, not the parenting.
The phrasing confused me.

Yeah, you guys speak a whole nother language and put extra 'u's in words.
This one time, my grandfather was working in England on a job, and his coworkers were having some language trouble. For example, when talking about the times when things needed to be done, they would say "shed-jool" and he would say "sked-jool". Finally one of his coworkers got fed up and snapped at him.
"It's shed-jool, man! Shed-jool! It's S-C-H! Can't you read?!?"
So my grandfather, without missing a beat, nodded humbly and hung his head. "I'm sorry, you're quite right. You'll have to forgive me. I'm a product of the American shool system."

Good news everyone, Paint isn't dead after all
However,
MS Paint is here to stay, it will just have a new home soon, in the Windows Store where it will be available for free.
means I'll need to associate Windows with my MS account, right?
-
@hungrier In the store, it has to compete with Autodesk's sketching app and a thousand actually good art programs that are free and uncomplicated.
-
@magus Maybe I'm but Paint is still better for basic drawing and manipulation than any other "Paint replacement" I've tried.
-
@hungrier It's good, and the sketch app I mentioned is more of an inking app, with a rather different feature set. All I know is, there's some decent software in that store in this particular area.
(My favorite thing in the store, though, is Pinball Star, a game which somehow still exists and has not gotten anyone sued)

Pretty sure I have that sketchbook app on my Surface Pro. I should really spend some time learning to actually use that sometime...

@dragoon Instead of just reducing the noise they should figure out a way to create interference patterns that play Yakety Sax behind the plane.

@dragoon Instead of just reducing the noise they should figure out a way to create interference patterns that play Yakety Sax behind the plane.
i've done the calculations, if they do that they will easily achieve Mach 19 only problem is that in order for that to work correctly the flight pattern would be highly irregular and quite possibly discontinuous.
while i"d be happy to take that tradeoff i think the FAA and air trafic controllers would shit their pants to have that plane in their airspace. :-)
