There are pubs to be drunk in - and that can't be done if you're outside, blocking the roads.

Pride is people walking on foot on the roads normally used for cars.
Or am I ing on that?

I don't know about in the UK, but in the US parades (even the ones that involve marching) are usually done on roads.

I think the confusion may have been about the context about 'Pride' - hence the link in my last post.
