Threads are losing their progress bars
-
Several threads are not displaying the progress bar widget anymore. See https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/23174/we-live-in-a-truly-horrifying-time for an example. Tested on the desktop view on two different systems.

@masonwheeler See:
https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/23151/mobile-missing-navigation-bar-at-bottom
I believe it's just a CSS difference and the two widgets are the same. How did you navigate to the topic? As I said in that other topic, every time I go from a category page the widget is gone.
EDIT: Also, E_NO_REPRO, like @Jaloopa.

Any way. From a notification, from the Unread page, or from the link I posted at the top of this thread, the result is the same.
(And this thread doesn't have a progress bar either!)
-
The one linked in OP lost its progress bar when I went from categories, and this one lost it when going in from latest
-
@masonwheeler @Jaloopa I believe that once it's gone it will stay gone until you refresh.
-
@boomzilla Yeah, that does seem to be the case.

Then how about this shit?
I have hard refreshed and even closed the tab and opened a new one for a clean load and it is still doing it constantly and if it isn't then the progress bar is completely absent as in @masonwheeler's case.
-
@Polygeekery I've seen that a few times too. Not as bad as what you're getting, though; a F5 refresh generally fixes the problem.
If the effect carries over from earlier threads as long as you don't refresh, then I'm not sure what actually causes it in the first place. :(
-
@masonwheeler right now in this thread:
-
Should we really need to do hard refreshes all the time just to make features work? I thought all this AJAXy stuff was to keep from having to do such shenanigans?
-
@Polygeekery
Well, this is open source. If the big UI breaking bug bothers you, then the sandbox is

I concur; I usually only do that once in a blue moon but I've done it more today and it consistently makes the bar go away.
-
@Yamikuronue All tight, so now we've got a consistent repro case?

I just had that happen when I had the missing bar and then I posted.

Well, I reproduced the category navigation locally, and I don't have any of our weird plugins installed, either.
-
So...
public/src/modules/navigator.js
...When you click on a topic link,navigator.update
is called multiple times. But before the last time (why multiple times? no clue)navigator.disable
is being called for some reason.This nulls out
navigator.selector
, which is the thing with all the data and stuff for where you are on the page, so that makes sense why topic last read markers don't get updated.

The problem was introduced on June 12th:
-
This also makes images not load when it happens, btw.
-
It's fixed upstream. @blubar
-
@boomzilla That's great news!

@boomzilla
Incoming update! Take cover!If this was Windows 10 it would have rebooted by now.

Exactly! We are browsing wtdwtf so it's assumes this is downtime.

Is it Tuesday again already?
-
Wasn't this fixed? Because it's become un-fixed if so.

Something, something, regression, temporal
-
I just thought it had happened coming here from /unread, but then it streamed in after a few seconds. Network hiccups?
-
The title definitely isn't showing up, but it looks like the progress bar does show up after a bit.
