Can I fix that when posting? Why does it only happen some times and not others?

Refresh. Did I fix it or break everything?

I have written quite possibly the worst CSS ever, but at least it works.
.iframely-container>div>div[style="left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 100%;"] { left: initial !important; width: initial !important; height: initial !important; position: initial !important; padding-bottom: initial !important; &>video[style="top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"] { top: initial !important; left: initial !important; width: initial !important; height: initial !important; position: initial !important; } }

@ben_lubar Is that... is that a CSS rule matching on a style attribute? I... I would have needed a drink, except I've stopped drinking, and I'm already sitting down, so.... I guess I'll continue as usual?
-
@cark you can match on any attribute you like... but somehow that one is more abusive.
-
@Arantor That way lies madness. It's a small very step from that to something like this
:not([style*="font-family: Comic Sans MS"]) { font-family: Comic Sans MS; }
-
@cark I frequently view this site on an iPad.
Guess what an iPad doesn't ship with.
Which means some fucker is going to make a web font version of it and do it that way instead.

Finally, a reason to praise Apple :D

@Arantor A USB to lightning cable? People around me with iDevices keep buying those

My Chromebook doesn't have whatever monospace font BuildMaster assumes all computers have, so the console output shows up in some FOSS version of Times New Roman.
-
@cark Actually the last iPad I bought shipped with one, it's just a) they sometimes break and b) iDiots lose them.

@accalia this iPad is 18 months old. I have several iterations back to a first gen, and they all work fine.

i meant the cables, not the tablet.

guess you won the silicon lottery on that one then.
the people i know with iDevices seem to need to get new cables at 25$ a pop every week or so.

Something tells me they might be yanking the cables out hard and at an angle, instead of holding the connector itself and pulling it out firmly but gently.

It wouldn't work at all if the CSS was in a stylesheet, which is usually where it belongs.
He's literally matching the style attribute of the element, and it's not flexible or forgiving... the contents of the attribute have to match it exactly. It's a text match, not a CSS match.
div[style="left: 0px;"]
won't match the same element asdiv[style="left:0px;"]
.

.As long as they break it in a very specific way, I can fix it in a very specific, very broken way.

There's a reason we call such people iDiots...
