The longshot ask: i wanna ride a horse in Montana!
-
My summer roadtrip will be taking me, my wife and Molly through Montana. I'd love to go on a trail ride (even one that's just a couple hours long), but that isn't really practical with an 18 month old in tow.
The only places I've found that offer babysitting are resorts and dude ranches-- and as much as I do want to ride a horse, I don't really want to drop over $1k USD per night for a minimum of three nights to do that.
Longshot to ask, I know, but anyone here know of a trail ride company in Montana that does trail rides AND offers child-minding services?
-
Hmm.... My current locally-stored profiles on forum members seem to indicate I don't know any that live in Montana, sorry.

I had forgotten that Montana existed. I'm not sure what my brain thought was taking a bite out of Idaho before I saw this topic.

This one is mainly a holiday place but it also allows day-trippers to have a ride. The child-minding is probably for guests but you might be able to make use of it.

TIL: There are no horses in Canada.

Does it have to be the same place? Maybe you can find a daycare that will take you as a one-off and pick her back up afterward.
-
@El_Heffe They're only allowed for the RCMP. Could you imagine how dangerous it would be if just anyone could ride a horse?

Hrmm... didn't think of that.
-
@El_Heffe Yeah, they only have moose, and you have to be RCMP to ride them

Especially if they had signs!

Apparently I can't read

So you're safe from the signs then?

Some hotels have babysitters on site or could recommend one. It wouldn't hurt to call wherever you're staying in Montana and see what they offer.

No one is safe from signs. You may not believe in signs, but they believe in you.

Turns out there's a recently opened drop-in daycare center in Bozeman called Dino Drop-In. Looks like it was started by a couple of child care workers who noticed there was only long-term care, and no by-the-hour day care-- and that regular daycare basically meant "you need to sign up when you're pregnant to hope to have a chance of getting in".
I'll do a bit of research, make sure they aren't-- I dunno, satanic baby-eaters or anything. Well, as long as they aren't baby-eaters. Molly can practice freedom of religion on her own accord.

Even if they are, they're not going to get through an entire 18-month-old in a single day, I mean come on.

What do you have against satanic baby eaters
-
@JazzyJosh Music Trivia: the A-side of that record was a song called "Hello Melinda Goodbye" which is both bland and completely unmemorable.

Nothing, just don't want them to eat my baby.
Though I may feel different after 6000km of roadtrip.

Now I've got nothing against Satanic baby eaters. Some of my best friends eat babies while praying to Satan. I just wouldn't want one marinating my daughter
