And pronz. Pronz do it too. Because maladvertising is a thing.
99% of viruses are "WTF were you pirating" or "WTF were you watching".
The other 90% are stupid users.
Also, don't run antivirus software:

Okay, fine, I can understand if somehow that will magic me into the system, but attempting to follow the instructions on how to get to the area to upload said documents results in failure, because I'm blocked from entering (due to above-mentioned non-special-ness).

But what really surprises me is that this ghost machine keeps getting knocked offline:
Netcache was a Hyper-V VM that inevitably got disabled when I put the host itself into a VM. So, it literally can't ever boot up again. Ever.
So why does Spiceworks keep thinking it's online then? (Much less, that it's routinely surprised that it's offline even)

So I'm looking to buy some spinning platter hard drives for bulk storage.
Did something happen that made 5400RPM drives not fucking godawful unbearably slow? Because that seems to be all anybody sells anymore.
Because at 7200RPM, prices are frankly obscene.
In my junk pile (junk because they're like ten fucking years old) I have some Seagate 7200.11 1.5TB's. Records show I bought them for $100 like ten fucking years ago.
The EXACT SAME MODEL DOWN TO THE SKU is currently selling for $99.
for 18$ more (on the current sale) you can upgrade that to 4TB if you're willing to switch brands:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822235011
or if you only want 3TB seagate has a 7200RPM model that's only $94.99
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIADG25H61815
Looks like Hard drive prices are like GPU prices. they make no goddess damn sense and never follow MSRP, not even as a suggestion.

Status: in a week's time they're going to move the lockers next to my bank of desks about three feet. I can't see how the new position is any more convenient for anyone, indeed it's going to be right in the place where they used to have whiteboards and made a big deal about getting rid of them so the office is more open-plan.
It will however mean my desk (which is at the end of the row next to the back of the locker, hitherto one of the best spots in this horrible office) will be overlooked from all four sides, and by passers-by as well as other people in our area. It's also going to take away my nice 'wall' that I stick things to with magnets to keep them safe and out of my way.

@Dreikin
One of the after effects I've found with my database upgrade is that there are a bunch of (mission critical, of course) Access processes that business users use to review or modify data in the system. And since some of the databases we upgraded had an instance name change, and all of them are on a different server, those Access databases generally aren't going to work until they get updated.Except they were originally created with in-Access DSNs, rather than ODBC connectors, so I can't just push a Group Policy to fix all the things. Woo sneakernet fixes! :(

@accalia Should try dealing with one of our hosts in work for one of our VLE systems.
We hit the 1TB limit hard last year. Only £999 for another 200GB, and at that price I'd expect it to be gold plated and installed by Bill Gates himself.
ooh CLOUD storage. that's different.
those prices are rediculous because you're not just paying for the harddrive you're stored on, you're also paying for a portion of the server that is running the storage array, and the redundant discs, and the hot backup server array and redundancies, and the switches and routers needed to connect that all to the inter net and.... well the list goes on for a while, but at the end there's an "and between a 30 and 300% markup, because

Well, for one thing at least... as the density of disk drives increases, data throughput should also increase, even if the drive's RPMs remain constant. I dunno how much of a difference that would make in actual use...

Well, it says not applicable, so I'd imagine that if they had records indicating that you had been incarcerated then it might be applicable, and if so they would probably want copies of whatever release paperwork you had...

Here's a message to them then: don't show me stuff that not applicable. If they had the resources to call me out specifically on one thing, then they have the resources to NOT show the things they can't call me out on.
It's like downloading the consumer version of some software and receiving a EULA for consumers, and tacked on is the EULA for small businesses, and then corporations, then other private entities, then government, then education!

Update: they're actually only moving the lockers next to the other bank of desks in our area. And it's because our scrum master asked for it so we can use the back of them as a noticeboard.
Two people do get to have passers-by on the main artery for traffic through the floorplate walking right by their desks with no barrier, but I'm not one of them.
