Anyone have experience with AbleDating.net?

  • Got a client that is interested in a php based dating site package, and abledating.net seems to promise the most, but the reviews on both sides are simply nuts - tons of "greatest ever" to "total scam" to "the positive reviews are shills" to "the detractors are competitors slandering it" yada yada yada.  Really, the client doesn't need anything too fancy, just video profiles, etc, and bilingual support, which this package appears to have.

When it comes to code I can handle just about any glitches without having to go through tech sup, I could write the whole thing I just don't want to reinvent the wheel if its been done better for less than I could charge.

Has anyone used it?  Any other recommendations?  Goggles Required?

  • Personally I prefer http://herpesdating.com/

Somewhat different target market... but thanks for the info.

  • AbleDating dating & community software has all the professional features that will be enough for you to create sites like YouTube, MySpace or Date.com!

Looks like a scam to me.

  • In my experience any service on the internet that has anything to do with online is a scam that will ruin your life. Couldn't you take something like drupal and hack it up to your specifications instead?

    Correction - an elaborate scam.

They can't be a scam! They have a whole page up on their site explaining how they're not a scam!

Actually that page makes interesting reading.

Both AbleDating 2.4 and AbleSpace 1.0 are complex PHP scripts containing over 650,000 lines of code each. Over 200 different core PHP files, and dozens of third-party integrations containing features which can self-modify, and manipulate other files. Up to ONE MILLION database queries can be handled each second by the dating script engine. The whole system is so complex and requires amazing server sync, file-to-file sync capabilities that one little 'speck of dust' can cause the whole system lose it's stability. Both AbleDating 2.4 and AbleSpace 1.0 are designed to work flawlessly on rather powerful servers (not your usual 1000 GB-bandwidth, $12.99 per month hosting), as most simple servers fail to keep up the data threads supported for a good number of connections. Nevertheless, ABK-Soft makes it possible to adapt the system to less powerful servers and 'locate and destroy' any and all bugs caused by server instability in the first place. 99% of script failure is caused by server incompatibility and misconfiguration.

Sounds like they use the "big ball of mud" pattern to me, although as it's PHP maybe that goes without saying ;)

I'd love to have a look at the source code, just to see how big of a WTF it is.

It may be a scam, but they promise vengeance.  That's a definite point in their favor.

Oh that one had me rolling.  Classic.

  •  Well, advertisement techniques require some exaggeration :D

  •  <sarcasm> I was skeptical upon first reading this post, but once I read that "one little 'speck of dust' can cause the whole system lose it's stability," I'm sold. I see no reason to pass on anything that could crash for absolutely no reason whatsoever.</sarcasm>

I preferred the part where they would address all issues PROVIDED the issue was accompanyied by a Order Number...

But I agree, they can account for server deficiencies in code, so long as the deficiency is not another piece of software, and they can use PHP with 650KLOC to serve over 1 terabit of traffic at any one point in time, no problem. Of course, I think that requires a helluav Zend engine, and probably a couple dozen CPUs thrown at the problem...

  •  Scam indeed.

We are in trouble now. They took our money. They make non-working template in 30 days (not 15 as advertise) and then... nothing.... They left us out at sea W I T H O U T   S U P P O R T, we sent tickets and didn't get ansered at all. We call and an india guy told us that our problems will be looked at... ya right....dont fall for that scam.

    1. Video/Blog was not working
    2. Menu Layout was very bad, 2 fonts, not aligned, all crap.
    3. The site is ugly in internet explorer, not compatible.
    4. That list could go on nad on for a while.

Now, we cannot meet our goal, the client is pissed and wants his money back + damages.
We Hire a professional coder to fixed the issues, we are still testing because that script cannot be trusted.

DONT BUY THAT PLEASE !!! and dont belive Andrew.

This is the worth script I bought in my 15 years experiences.

  • Hello!

Can you please post your order number so that I could investigate the case properly?
Everything that works on the demo should work the same on your site. Also, if there are some faults on the demo (and there shurely can be) you will have the same on your site, but we make our best to correct them.

    Andrew.

  • Don't do it.
