See image first. Really? IETab and 800x600?

And this was seriously done in 2008? So that means it's really recent. Wow. Just wow.

  • Hmm, aside from a couple of weird gaps in certain layouts, the site works fine in Firefox anyway.

That's a fucked up instruction for best viewing. I haven't seen that sort of thing since about 2000.

Also, what am I supposed to do on a Mac or Linux box?

Edit: Apparently the Chinese Apacer site is flagged as malicious by Firefox. I wonder if this and the recommendation to view with IE are somehow related?

  • My point exactly. I continued using Firefox and never noticed anything was wrong. I think people don't understand the difference between HTML and BROWSER.

    Which is sad.

EDIT: [dang those cross post edits] - I never saw said malicious warnings, but I was looking for something highly specific and downloaded nothing, and natch use noscript.

Not surprising. I'm in Australia, and accidentally clicked on the Chinese site option (one away from the English Asia Pacific site in the drop down).

I wonder if viewing the site in firefox will let you through to some crucial part of the ordering process and then fall over because it can't install an ActiveX control, or some shit like that.

  • The Flash component on the main page (after "select country") is particularly entertaining - blank in Firefox and Opera, covers up most of the drop-down menus in Firefox and Safari and Chrome.

I think it doesn't on firefox + windows. Unix flash player have always been always on top (thanks to the autors of that plugin). Just use adblock to remove it, it's blank anyway :D

  • Wait, you're not surfing with adblock turned on by default?

I actually did not see said flash running, since I rarely do js, and hardly ever flash, unless it's a site I expected to use flash in the first place. Or when I've just got to see a WTF page in action. But in this case, their insistence that I use IE and 800x600 was too much for me to bear, so I kept what I was doing with zero changes. And no, I still haven't seen the flash. Remarkably enough, I was there to do research for something work related, for flash I goto youtube.
