Beta

    Mohamed,

    1 - Reverse Geocoding

We're working on an implementation of reverse geocoding at the moment - it will be as a pre-Alpha for early testing in the next few weeks - keep an eye on this list of early announcements

    2 - Alpha Services

Most of our services are currently available in Beta, which means that are ready for use in production applications and come with SLAs and guarantees.  Some services, like geocoding have components that are in Alpha - meaning we're still actively working on them:

    Best,

  • Discourse touched me in a no-no place

     I blame Google.

  • Even google doesn't offer guarantees and SLAs on its "beta" applications.

It means that it's in testing and is likely to be buggy, even to them.

  • I'll skip a few steps and blame the Greeks then.

So they're no longer actively working on the stuff that's in beta? How reassuring.

No it's not. This is exactly what google does! E.g. take gmail: still "beta" (and with the recent service outtages, you almost would expect it was still beta) and still they sell it with a SLA.

    Uh, that's not GMail...

That's "google apps email". Consider it as the "latest stable" version of gmail.

I use google apps for my email on my domain. It definitely IS missing the gmail beta features (and it offers an option to enable them if I was interested). The option is:

[tickbox] <label for="appfeatures">Turn on new features</label> (like group chat or coloured labels)

Turn on new features in this domain when they are launched to Google consumers (before Google supports them for organisations using Google Apps).

Furthermore, if I remember correctly the serious problems never were with a label color showing up incorrectly or something like that, but the recent (1-2 months ago or something) outages of almost a day also affected "google apps mail"

    [edit]
Excuse me for the thread reviving post. I saw an email with the "new post" link and didn't realize it was an old one
