Samsung to release voice-assistant app that doesn't understand English

And then the murders began.

So Samsung haven't yet noticed Korean isn't THE international language.
Bonus WTF: The comment above didn't show any code colors/formatting until I posted my comment. Good show, NodeBB.

@NeighborhoodButcher
Probably because @abarker a-butchered the quotes and created improperly formed JSON
-
@El_Heffe as if any of these understood any language
-
Random Samsung WTF: I just looked at my Magician software (the software for managing Samsung SSDs, if you didn't infer from the obvious name) and it includes a feature to check if your system is compatible with Samsung products. Yes, that's exactly what I want after installing a Samsung product - to check if it's compatible.
-
@wharrgarbl I find Cortana actually understands me pretty well.
I still haven't found any reasons to use it though. Occasionally I ask it the time to verify that it still works.

So? This is a complaint that people who speak most languages other than English in daily life can make about a great amount of software, but now it affects native English speakers, it’s suddenly news?

@anonymous234 my phone assistant answer to most stuff with a Google search, so for a moment I thought it would be funny to answer your comment with one
-
@Gurth True, but English is the first language this was supposed to support after Korean.
That they can't have it ready by launch means Samsung hasn't even managed to have two languages working on their thing.
I'd bet $50 that assistant is shit anyway. Just stop trying to do things like these, Samsung, it's sad. Stick to making air conditioners.

Being the international language assures that large corporations have english-speakers on their staff. It doesn't help anything in making users capable of dealing with a English-only activated device.
Also
English version of app, dubbed Bixby, could be delayed for over a month.
It's just a month

At least in that case, the cooling is built in from the word go!

Not necessarily. "over a month" is a rather vague time frame. It could be six weeks. Or 59 days. It could be three months. It could be 32 days. It's rather difficult to say how long it will be before "Bixby" is launched.
-
@abarker when evaluating a purchase, better assume never, or that it will suck.

@TimeBandit Life left the oceans over a month ago.

@TimeBandit I think at that point you're officially GODDAMMIT FBMAC ago

It's so you can check regularly. It was compatible when you installed it but that doesn't mean it's compatible now!

You're so far beyond GODDAMMIT FBMAC that it's looped back round and become funny again

Last time I checked, Viv is built by the same team as Siri. So maybe there's some special order given to prioritize the task of developing for Korean over other languages.

Does the Samsung Galaxy S8 Microsoft Edition use Cortana in place of Bixby?
If yes, just get that and stop whining.
