New emoji

Via:
I found the list of new emoji proposed for Unicode v10.0. Highlights:
- Obviously the FACE VOMITTING .
- EXPLODING HEAD .
- Bunch of emoji with man, woman and gender neutral variant like MAGE , MAN MAGE and WOMAN MAGE where the fact the gender-neutral uses one of the gender images kinda kills the gender-correctness (but the existing ones with gender-neutral variant generally all do that).
- Includes FAIRY and MERPERSON with gender variants.
- Also, gender-neutral variants of some already existing gendered emoji like CHILD , ADULT and OLDER ADULT . Not all of them though; there are many existing gendered emoji in the person-role section that didn't get any.
- Specially for @RaceProUK, the HEDGEHOG .
- And preparation for the when the Scots decide to leave UK, the (and and ).
-
Specially for @RaceProUK, the HEDGEHOG
About time! :D
Though, if I'm honest, I've known about it for a couple of months already.

Unicode is competing hard to be sillier than javascript and CSS

Why aren't clothing items (U+1f9e2+) modifiers? You could then play unicode--dress-up. Like U+1F9D7 U+1F9E2 U+1F9E6 would be a person climbing wearing socks and a billed cap.

@fbmac
Now we know why ancient Egyptian civilization died out. The spent all that time adding new emoji to Hieroglicode, didn't see the desert coming to swallow them

@cvi Emoji zalgo?
-
@PleegWat don't know why, but zalgo generator didn't work with emoji

@cvi Emoji zalgo?
Either that, or we could finally have a letter A wearing a scarf.

If you want browser vendors to turn to cold blooded murder, maybe.

I think it's because emoji are multibyte characters and when one of the bytes has a combining character applied to it then stuff fails to render properly.

request for unicode consortium to include colour modifiers for mages
example
[U+xxxx RED MODIFIER] + MAGE
gives red mage, and one for black, white, etcbecause otherwise this shit is classist

Then some joker would want a "modifier nude", and "modifier close-up of genitals", and next thing you know you'd have unicode child porn.

No one wants that.
That's what browser zoom is for.

@cvi Emoji zalgo?
What if Zalgotext generators incorporated the vomiting modifier?

Right, better to go with classless.

Let us know when there's a DELETED modifier
-
@loopback0 Well, not a modifier so much, and not in unicode, but here we have .
-
Either that, or we could finally have a letter A wearing a scarf.
You can have Scarface: U+2660 U+1F9E3, but The Scarlet Letter is still waiting for generic font color modifiers.

It's not just the color, there could be fire mage, water mage, necromancer, sorcerer, wizard, apprentice mage, and druids

No game genie :(

I hate good wizards in fairy tales. They always turn out to be him.
-
@fbmac Well, their policy has always been "add absolutely everything we can".
-
@Bulb All emoji should be modifiers, including mage and exploding head. One character specifies hair color, one hair type, one gender, one skin color, then other various to specify other objects. It would be like the character editor in a game :D
Edit: or like one of those alchemy games

NO! Why did you remind me of the existence of this game?! :shakes_fist:
-
@Zecc I got over my addiction when I realised I was either mindlessly dragging each item onto another item, or finding a wiki and mindlessly following the instructions to make new things

Sounds like me playing point and click adventure games. (But the plot from the old Indiana Jones and Monkey Island games were worth it (by old I mean MS-DOS old))
-
@anonymous234 @Jaloopa I didn't knew that game. Thanks. Or not, given how I'm also wasting more time.
I couldn't resist looking at some list of items, but I try to use it as an objective (how can I get to this weird thing?), a bit like the suggestions that popup from time to time in the game itself. Some are quite obvious when you know that you're supposed to get them, some... less so!
My gaming-OCD is slightly disturbed by the fact that apparently the game doesn't show a count of how many different ways to generate an item you've found, so while I can (relatively) easily see what I've discovered, I'll never know if I've found all the relationships.
-

FYI: double clicking an item will duplicate it. That ought to greatly reduce your mouse movements back and forth.
Right-clicking an item will show you which combinations of creating it you've found. I don't know if there's is a total count of combinations though.
-
@Zecc Yeah, I found that randomly. I wanted to simply move an item aside, erroneously double-clicked then slightly dragged the item on itself, and poof! I got a new item instead of the original one!
What would be nice would be some way to unravel an item to base components, or combine-without-removing-base-item, that would make it easier when you're trying to match an item with a bunch of other (I recently discovered "wild animal" which I guessed would combine with a lot of stuff, but that means duplicating the animal each time before trying a different combination).
The fact that the combinations are listed on a right-click is actually the source of the counting problem! If there was no way to see which mechanism you've discovered, you wouldn't worry that you missed some mechanisms (but of course, you also wouldn't be able to see what combinations you did to get something, which is bad, but I'm just saying that on this kind of game, having an info that isn't counted is slightly annoying).
