I don't see this, but then I never log off. I have TDWTF always open in a tab.
What kind of phone, again? Which browser? I use chrome on Android and, like I said before, it's not a problem.
Chrome on Android 6.0, Moto G3. It can be noticeably slow for a new chunk to stream in when scrolling, perhaps 2β3 seconds, but other than that, it works pretty well β certainly better than on my ancient iOS device, on which I could not post at all.
-
@boomzilla I use Windows Phone's current version of Edge. Which, like I said, this used to work perfectly on. It should not be getting worse.

Did it occur to you that, maybe, it's just Edge that's getting worst ?
-
@TimeBandit It would, if it was affecting anything other than this site.
-
@HardwareGeek I have performance issues on IE at work, which I cannot avoid using, I had them on Sleipnir (which was chrome), I have slightly less on Edge on my desktop, which is orders of magnitude more powerful and has a faster connection.
Again: IE11 or 12 or whatever this is I have to use at work is not in a state of flux. This site is.

Or is it just is full of bugs and won't take constructive criticism? Kind of reminds me of the state of the union right now.
I remember busting out laughing at one of 's tweets.
For the length of his tweets, it's obvious he's progressive and pro-Hillary.
At one point he applauds someone for a statement/article title that seems progressive, and so he endorsed the candidate. But when I looked at the candidate's platform, it was clear he was a libertarian.
Trump is so bad, progressives want to vote for libertarians...
Well, fellow libertarian comrade, the demoralization is complete.

Welp....is anyone else on a Microsoft stack having problems like this?

Well, for some reason, NodeBB managed to break the @mention links and stuff on Edge.
-
@boomzilla
Not that I'm a Microsoft stackee, but I've been having pretty consistent disconnect/reconnect notifications with W10 + Chrome (latest stable) for several weeks, on multiple different machines. I've had a handful of posts that basically failed in flight (submit button greyed out, but post never submitted, hard refresh the page and hit reply to get my draft back and resubmit) over the past few days.Mobile wise, I'm on iOS/Safari, haven't really seen any weird connection issues that couldn't be explained by "I have 2 bars in a metal building and the phone is shifting between LTE/3G/2G constantly"
-
@izzion Hmmm.....I see some errors in the logs. Could be those crashes causing this.

I've started noticing this over the last couple of days. Different machines. macOS and Windows + Chrome.

@boomzilla paging @RaceProUK
You having the same issues with chat and speed?
-
@Magus Can't say I've noticed any issues with chats, but then I rarely use them outside of Mafia. General site speed is usually good for me, though there's the odd slowdown on occasion. Usually sorts itself out within a minute though.
-
@Magus said in infects another community:
@boomzilla The chat window now forces itself to a minimum width on phones, causing the X button to be unreachable when the phone is vertical. It also almost never activates the keyboard, a bug we had in our earliest time here, that eventually was fixed.
Additionally, it takes around a minute for the site to load sufficiently that I can bring up the side menu to log in, at which point my phone has warmed noticeably.
There is no reason for us to have any of these issues, since we didn't have them six months ago.
I blame Ben's Go-to-JS converter.
-
Yea, but at least the nodeBB devs are willing to work with you when you have issues, Jeff, no so much.
Jeff is very willing to work with you, provided you're one of them $200/month paying customers.

@El_Heffe disco toasted my phone battery and was always offline
-
@RaceProUK All I know is, a week or two ago, the last time I tried using chat on my Icon, the chat interface wouldn't fit to my phone, and I couldn't send messages or close it properly. If you don't have that issue, that's rather nice.
-
@Magus I don't use the forum on mobile, so I dunno how well it works.

Which, believe it or not, is a step up from javascript + ruby.

With the added fun of a pants on head database with an even more backwards schema.

Ugh, @dangeRuss, seriously?
It's doing shit like this that makes it seem pretty obvious to an outside observer that we were TR and was in the right as far as The Bannening.
Can we get a community standard to stop behaving toward Discourse in ways that would justify a restraining order if we did that IRL? Hell, I'll even give up
farming likesmaking snarky posts in the 'pocalypse thread forever if it meant I didn't have to be peripherally associated with crap like this any moreDangerus' post isn't as bad as @fbmac's obvious trolling though - although I think he could do better at explaining why he doesn't like it.
Do we have a list of outstanding grievances somewhere that I can point them to? Or is it just is full of bugs and won't take constructive criticism?
I can actually think of one outstanding grievance: They still use an avatar CDN for default avatars. When the CDN crashes or starts returning errors, instances start having issues across the board. All you have to do to take down every install is take down their avatar CDN.
A single point of failure for all (or nearly all) installs seems a pretty big issue to me.

On PCs, yes. On mobile, no. The chat may be
worsepretty badthe worst and most user-hostile messenger ever written, but the rest of NodeBB works and doesn't turn my phone into a radiator.

Womm, my phone doesnt have much of a problem. Actually, desktop Chrome is having more issues than Chrome mobile (for once).
