Nintendo Switch ships with Webkit bugs that were patched by Apple in August 2016. These bugs attracted attention last year because they were used to hijack an iPhone used by a political dissident in the United Arab Emirates; the bugs could allow attackers to steal call histories, texts, contacts and calendar information, and messages from apps like Gmail and WhatsApp.

Apple patched so-called "Trident" bugs in iOS 9.3.5 back in August.

What I don't understand is why they didn't fork Blink instead of Webkit.
Blink is more actively developed than Webkit.

Well it is easy for web devs to do because they use the same CSS prefixed i.e.-webkit-<whatever> : { /* some style rules */ }In this case the same vulnerability was in an old OS 9 version of Safari. So it is Webkit rather than Blink.
I just dunno why you would take Webkit over Blink if you were going to build a new browser.
