Why even bother with a checkbox?

Hey, Microsoft. I'd really rather you didn't use my email and phone to provide special Azure offers. Unfortunately, there's no way to tell you that when signing up for Azure

Enabled it with dev tools and unchecked. I wonder if that will break anything.
Seriously, though. What do they expect on a sign up page for web developers?

Disabled inputs aren't supposed to even be submitted by the browser (although in these days of JavaScript, who knows what happens).
If they don't use a retarded process to parse the form data, it should just be ignored, since it's not supposed to be there anyway.

so...... remove the disable attribute, then it's not disabled and should be submitted. it's worth a try. :-)

Yes. Reading has no post offices so you need to go to Bracknell.

@Jaloopa Is it even legal, to block the option of an opt-out?

Technically it's not blocked, there's just an extra step to enable it

Is it even an opt-out if there is no opting?

Unchecked checkboxes are not submitted.

Unchecked checkboxes are not submitted.
So you"re opted out by default, problem solved.

Yes. Reading has no post offices so you need to go to Bracknell.
Even if that were true, Wokingham is closer.

It wasn't about the obvious flaw, it was the more subtle (albeit crass) idea that anyone would willingly want to go to Bracknell.

@No_1 I was going to point out Winnersh was closer but figured most people would voluntarily go to North Korea if it meant avoiding Winnersh.

It took a few moments to get that, Wokingham isn't pronounced that way in these parts.

In this context Woking is a verb rather than a noun.
