The second chamber (parliament) agreed with a bill to legalize the growing of cannabis. It's uncertain what the first chamber (senate) will do.
-
@PleegWat The Dutch being OK with cannabis? Whodathunkit?! :P
-
@RaceProUK Well, there has been the situation for decades now where coffee shops are allowed to sell cannabis from a 500g stock. That's all the cannabis is allowed to come from - the coffee shop's 500g stock.
The 500g is not allowed to come from anywhere.

Having been in both Canada and NW England, no, you're not used to cold.

@dkf Look at the bright side, we are mosquito-free for 11 months per year !!!
-
@TimeBandit
I'm not sure that "no mosquitoes" is a sufficient trade off for "I stepped outside and my blood froze inside my veins". Heck, at that point, you'd be better off getting bit by a mosquito, for the anti-coagulent.
-
@izzion It's not that cold if you dress properly

You have the same number of mozzies per year. You just concentrate the wee fuckers into one month of utter misery…

On a more serious note, it's currently 11°C in Montreal, and it's raining.

Yeah, had that sort of thing earlier this week. Now it's just degree or so above the point where we'd get snow. Fortunately, Storm Doris hasn't done too much damage (still have power and internet, so life isn't a disaster) but the current forecast puts us slap in the middle of the main North Atlantic storm track for the next few weeks… :wind_west:
-
@izzion El Nino doesn't happen every year.
And every year, for the last 10 years at least, winters are less and less cold. To the point where I don't bother shovelling anymore, I just wait for it to melt a couple days later.
You can deny global warming all you like, it doesn't change my first hand experience
-
@TimeBandit I'm enjoying this year's global warming. Sure beats last year's blizzard.
-
@boomzilla Sure, right up until you end up having massive crop problems and tree diseases the next year because there wasn't enough frost over the winter to kill the parasites like usual.
-
@masonwheeler Yawn.

Yeah, TBH I didn't even notice the hot water pipe (that conveniently runs across the top of the house) get frozen this year.
'Course, the internal sensors on our really expensive water heater seem borked, as they claim the water is a nice 148 F, but it's only mostly hot coming out of the tap...

Anarchists are confusing people. The ones I've encountered on reddit are just (very) authoritarian communists. They don't actually seem to dislike governments, they just want to rename them to something else and suddenly it will be totally different. And they hate anarcho-capitalism above all else, because how can you have real freedom if you don't have someone to enforce intersectional feminist theory?

It really says something about global politics.
I mean, I can understand the power of private prisons, lobbying, corruption, anti-hippie propaganda and all that. But it's been banned in every first world country.
You'd expect some dissenting countries when it comes to dubious laws like that. Same as with ridiculous copyright laws. The US has managed to impose them in every country to accept them, either them or some other shadowy meta-government entity.

There used to be a Gropecunt Lane (or similar) in a number of English cities. Common place to go for professional services.

@flabdablet I just want to point out that you linked to SHAttered.it, when the correct domain is actually SHAttered.io. They actually use the same TLS certificate, but it could have been an extremely elaborate phishing attack.

I copied the shattered.it link from the article at security.googleblog.com, which whois identifies as belonging to Google. I think it's legit.

I did have a coworker who was a free-market anarchist, and (thus?) apparently a true anarchist. He succeeded in converting me to the free-market part, but not anarchism.

The problem with Yahoo links is that they show you the article for about two seconds, then they forward you to their main page.

Apparently I have a new skill to test:
Edit: I'm annoyed that most of the example problems requires real-world scenario situational data on things and concepts.
Without the Stage interposing an interpretation of the various scenarios I wouldn't be capable of inferring the context of many of them (it took a while to get the red Riding Hood wolf problem, though I don't agree with it because it anthropomorphized the wolf, else it wouldn't make sense).
Do people really find these things so obvious?

He also says she needs to back her claims up with proof, like saying she never cheated on him.
Asking her to prove a negative? That's several points off for him!
That's not quite what he said. He asked why she took any blame if there wasn't actually any cheating:
You claimed that cheating never occurred, but place blame on yourself - then what for? Need to stop contradicting your own story and pick a side. While this gesture is appreciated, I would prefer details over statements.
The article's author just apparently can't parse very well.
