CS 2.1 Is Here

  • ♿ (Parody)

Upgrade went pretty smoothly; post any bugs you notice here.

Looks like Threaded View is working again. Woo. Hoo.

  • Uhm, this is how the thread overview looks for me:

    uhm..

edit: and the avatars seem to be gone?

    seems to be missing

  • ♿ (Parody)

TDC -- what browser are you using?

  •
TDC -- what browser are you using?
I am using IE (corporate policies, etc) and I am seeing the "Write a New Post" the way TDC sees it... However, the layout seems normal...

  • Critical: Moderation doesn't work anymore in Firefox. The Moderation "combobox"  doesn't open.

Edit: Works in Opera 9.01, though.

Edit: Works again in FF. Looks like the problem was temporary.

  • The thread list is cleaner. I like it.

Decent HTML source editor also. :)

    Insert Image in the toolbar...

    Pretty  satisfying update, really. :)

I work with FFX and an enlarged text size (1600*1200 = must have bigger text). When I drag the text box (woo! dragging!) the font jumps back to original 12px size. I don't know if that's easily fixed or fixable at all.

  •
TDC -- what browser are you using?
FWIW Firefox, but it's fixed now.

  • Hey, the thread list doesn't sort by Last Updated aymore, but by Created Date.

    That's not terribly handy.

    Never mind, I found it.

I personally feel those options are better place inside the preferences page, rather than on every forum.

I agree... But I think there should be a default one that is good for all and another one on each of the forums for specific settings... But I'm probably asking a lot...

Delete key is not working* in constructing messages... Speaking of constructing messages, aren't we allowed to upload images rather than just linking them to an existing url?

Hey... dhromed's first two lines appear striked-through in the editor but not in the post*...

Sometimes tabs appear broken, sometimes they're not*...

    * - is this because I'm using the almighty IE?

    Odd.

They don't appear S-ed here too, in FFX.

The delete key not working may be an artifact of IE, yes. We're having a similar problem now, extending a large inherited CMS, and rewriting/adding components: certain text fields have no Delete key.

I couldn't agree more, it's irritating to have to change it to a sane sort order on every forum. (And yes, I know there aren't many of them, but there are still more than 1 which is the number of times I should have to set that option.)

And Dromed's strikethrough doesn't appear for me either (FF) – but it does in the editor. (I removed it from the quote in this post intentionally.)

    Strikethrough test.

  • I am using Firefox 1.5.0.6. The thread titles (and other info) are centered rather than left-justified. The icons are left-justified. Not really a big problem, but it bothers me on an unconcious level. The forum looks as expected in IE.

  • Login is broken on Konqueror 3.5.3 (im posting in FF 1.5.0.5). I suspect its about javascript. Anyone else uses Konqueror here?

I used to, but the last CS upgrade broke it. It's the ASP.Net postback JS. I doubt that Konqueror is going to pick up document.forms[] anytime soon, and I don't imagine that MS JS is going to be calling document.getElementById() anytime soon either. i.e. Get used to Firefox around here. :/

What's worse, it seems to reset between logins. :-/ (And yes, I did click "Apply", not "Apply (Temporarily)".

Are you sure that's the problem?  document.forms is part of the standard, so I'd be surprised if it didn't work in Konqueror.

    Drat!

Flowers, I'm also using .6, and the thread titles are perfectly ok.

In IE, logging off and logging on retains these settings...

  •
In IE, logging off and logging on retains these settings...
Ah, I see now, the setting's stored in a cookie - I have my browser set to delete cookies at the end of the session.  I can whitelist this site, so it's not really a big deal.

Also, the "Forums" list shows a different icon for each forum, depending on whether there are any new posts... except that reading all the new posts doesn't reset it, you have to do "Options" -> "Mark all read".  Interestingly enough, immediately after doing so it redisplays the list of topics with the default sort order, but only for that one request.

I wasn't aware of that. If so then I guess I should have looked a little harder. Maybe I'll take a look again this weekend or something to see what's really breaking..

That's nothing; I think I found one of the forums was sorting by poster name, for some mysterious reason

  • Ok, I'm getting pretty tired of having to reset my sorting options every time i check this site. WTF, man!

You need to allow non-session cookies and check persistent login.

  •
You need to allow non-session cookies and check persistent login.
Ok, allowing non-session cookies (I use firefox, so I'm assuming that means set the option to "keep cookies until they expire") I can understand, but checking persistent login? I thought the readership of this site was at a sufficient level of paranoia to understand how big of a WTF that is!

The persistent login doesn't seem to be necessary for me.  I may have misled people with my earlier post - I apologise if that's the case.

    Ok, so
I checked the persistent login box and set my cookie permissions to the
loosest possible (AFAICT). It remembered my user name, but sure enough
the display options had reverted yet again! WTF!
