Bad link pasting offset in Composer

  • Copying a link from somewhere, selecting a portion of text that has a final space (e.g. double-clicking a word) in the Composer, clicking the link button, and pasting the link messes up the link formatting.

Here is a link to test with: http://www.google.com

Here is some text with spaces.
Here is some 0_1487740356835_upload-8c76fa1e-893d-495e-9b0a-7225b9edcbd7 with spaces after clicking the link button. (Notice that "ink url)" is the selected text.)

You'll notice this is true for almost all of the buttons, actually. Bold 0_1487741357962_upload-539acc11-167c-4c65-918a-c61f1ef76993 , Italics 0_1487741384079_upload-d58063c5-1749-4564-9d3d-e7e40ad8e3b2 , StrikeThrough 0_1487741412976_upload-9fb7b731-ac46-42d1-b3db-aaf262ea3acf Ins/Del 0_1487741462465_upload-9103e097-9549-4655-a3ad-3938661f7a15

The only ones that do work is List Item, FullScreen (I have a hunch that doesn't actually modify the textbox), Smileys. Upload.

  • @Tsaukpaetra The formatting buttons used to not work at all if you selected a trailing space. @ben_lubar tried to fix that here. He moved the formatting characters (*, ~, etc) before the trailing space, but that doesn't change the length of the selected text. The ins/del button uses the length of the selection to position the cursor, and it can't do it correctly because it doesn't know that the trailing space was moved.
