Android Nougat annoyance
-
My phone updated to Nougat and so far all the changes were annoying. The previous one I could switch wifi and 3g on/off with a single click on the status bar, now it takes multiple steps.

@fbmac
Swipe to reveal the status bar and tap the plane mode icon. It's that simple.You can configure which icons appear there: In general, you can rearrange the items in the status menu now. The first five of them appear when you swipe from the top.

I tried to Google a nougat android, but all I got was pictures of phones.

The only thing that really annoys me about Android updates is that you have to go through all Google settings and apps again and disable all new features which basically send everything you do to Google. "Privacy by default" is too much to ask, I guess.
Also, fuck you Google, why are you suddenly using my login with all of your apps when I explicitly told you that I don't want that before the update? Are you really ignoring my choice to opt out of data collection? Do you want to be sued in the EU?

I used the the 3g button to make I won't accidentally watch Netflix on the 3g and toast my 1GB cap. The airplane button doesn't help with that.

The mobile data toggle for the status bar still exists. You may have to add it to the menu by clicking "Edit" and dragging it in there.
-
@asdf yes, but when click it opens a screen that requires an extra click to disable it now (maybe it only happens on dual chip phones)

For Google, yeah, I expect so.

Huh. You're right, you now need an extra click on dual SIM phones. Even if you disabled one of the cards.OK, can reproduce now, REOPENED.
JK, you are obviously . Banned!

Does the app have a setting to say “don't download over mobile connections”?

@sloosecannon also, that's only required for mobile data, not wifi.

I don't think it's a dual-sim thing unless I'm missing something there... It's the same number of actions (3) for either. Which, granted, is more than 2, but still...
