Surfing the Azure Seas: Triggering a WebJob after App Service deployment
-
Does anyone here know if there's a way to trigger a scheduled WebJob when a website has been successfully deployed via a VisualStudio.com Release? Note that the WebJob is hosted in a separate App Service to the website.
-
Is there some kind of post-deploy action? It doesn't sound like they would do such a thing though...
-
@Tsaukpaetra I've not seen one, but I can always have another look.
-
This should definitely by possible by using the WebJob API and customising the Release definition on VisualStudio.com. You can add a PowerShell script step to your Release definition, which in turn performs a web request against the WebJob API to trigger your job.

@AlexMedia Thanks: looks like just the thing I need
-
Happy to help. Did you get it working?
-
@AlexMedia I'll let you know on Monday, when I'm back in work ;)

@AlexMedia I couldn't get it working with the REST API, but then I found this:
Which, when I think about it, should have been my first port of call
Anyway, it's all working now.
