Tags gone

  • All of you have noticed that the tags are gone and we're building a new tag cloud.

Does anyone remember what that thread was where we just started speaking only in tags?

I remember it was the one where I started using the Lorem Ipsum Dolor Sit Amet,so I could search it by that tag but the tags are gone.  I remember it was the one where I started using the Lorem Ipsum Dolor Sit Amet,so I could search it by that tag but the tags are gone. I remember it was the one where I started using the Lorem Ipsum Dolor Sit Amet,so I could search it by that tag but the tags are gone.  I remember it was the one where I started using the Lorem Ipsum Dolor Sit Amet,so I could search it by that tag but the tags are gone.

  • There's enough junk in these forums without the tag abuse. Do us all a favour and leave it alone.

There's enough whining on these forums without you whining about tags.  Do us all a favor and be quiet.

This is coming from one of the more idiotic sources of that junk.  Do us all a favor and die in a fire and maybe we'll stop having fun with the tags.

Because we'd have too much fun dancing on his grave?

I kept getting complaints about the "extra 270kb+ of tags" that apparently loaded with each page, so, I killed 'em all. I would have disabled the feature... but, well, it's commnityServer... you know the drill.

  • On my mobile phone, the tag area overlays everything on the pages where it appears (the forum and thread selections).  It makes it hard to read TDWTF on the train and such, since you have to guess which link leads to what.

Can you delete tags which were only used once? Or better replace them with <tag deleted> or something.

    Why?

I understand that, and have no complaints of it, despite what my tag says.

(Hopefully) Next up: making posts older than 1/1/2008 searchable via the search button.

I think it's time to face facts and be rid of the tags all together.  Actually, we should probably deal with the root of the problem... Get your torches and pitchforks, people, we're visiting the Community Server developers!

    Why?

Because that would get rid of the snarky remarks and keep the actual tags. As for the second suggestion, it's so that you won't be reading a thread and thinking "WTF is this post empty?".

The solution seems clear to me.  STOP FUCKING ABUSING THE TAGS PEOPLE!

I find the tags devoid of practical value. I prefer their removal from the system entirely.

If they had still been there, btk would have found his thread!

Besides, they populate the cloud, which is interesting to watch would have been interesting to watch if not for the tag spam.

Dude, some of my best friends are tags.

    Ironically, they are joyless fascists.

  •  When I first joined this site I loved the "File under: ..." humor.  There were some really good ones that assentuated the comment or thread nicely and made me laugh.  The spam though is just silly.

I've fucked joyless anarchists and jolly fascists, but never a joyless fascist.
