Took me a couple tries before I realized what was going on.

  •  To kill the suspense of others: It uses history.back which in the steps above would take you back to google results.

Thanking for wasting your time, so that I don't have to.  You, sir, are a hero.

So he could have simply posted the link here and suddenly The Daily WTF would appear to be thier home page.

    How appropriate...

Took me a couple of tries too, because it's not the first result on the results page I get; the first result is to www.fairview.org/clinics/primary/c_099271.asp which doesn't even have a link with that text in the navpane.  Luckily I got the words "Fairview Uptown Clinic home" in the results snippet for the second entry.  But I still had to enable scripts before it would work...

    FTR, the link is:

    http://www.fairview.org/clinics/primary_care_clinics/careteam.asp?Provider=<wbr>633203&Name=Fairview+Uptown+Clinic

  • How many of us want to send cease and desist letters so they stop using our pages as thier home page?

Or accuse them of hacking our sites to insert thier pages into ours?

As proof we can give them links to our pages that have a link to thiers and the steps we used to prove it, (just hit your "Fairview Uptown Clinic Home" link)

  • I'm sure the designer has no idea that there is a problem and is quite proud of their use of the browser history feature. I know I was when I first came up with this idea. Of course, I didn't let mine go out into the wild.

It worked when I tested it!

My guess is damn near all of us.  However, most of us will make due with wanting.  Tis enough for me.

Some of us may go so far as doing, but I get more than enough exposure to needless legal activity by reading Groklaw.

  •  Ohnoes I right-clicked, opened in a new tab, and now i can't get back to the home page!!

FYI: Middle click and CTRL+left-click are more efficient.

Or both-button-click, in case you're on a laptop.

Does that actually work? I have a middle-mouse on mine so I can't confirm it's false, because it might not work for me.

Not on all laptops.  My old one (Toshiba Tecra) had that feature, but my new one (Lenovo Thinkpad) does not.

WTF? WHY would you post instructions on how to find a url that is based on time and location AND have nothing to do with the WTF? Why not just post the URL?

AND I don't see the problem. The URL someone else posted was the problem has two home links, and both are links that point to their homepage.

It's usually an OS feature, not a hardware one.  I don't know about Winders, but in X it's "Emulate3Buttons" or something to that effect...

On my Synaptics trackpad "middle click" is a touch in the top-right corner of the pad. I can't remember if that was the default setting or one I set up.
