Fucking ebay valet

  • So I sent some stuff to ebay valet to sell (since amazon fucking restricted a bunch of brands).

They listed my Amazon Fire TV as

They opened my factory sealed ASUS Memo Pad:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/201774618921

and (not so sealed but that's how it was) Sony MDRV6

and listed them as "New Other" for 1/3 of the price. I called customer service and they said it's part of the T&C.

What classifies an item as "new"?

A valet will sell both new and used items, but only items in factory-sealed original packaging will be considered in "new" condition. Valets may open factory-sealed packaging to inspect the items and determine their condition.

So items that are in factory sealed condition are new. But if they feel like it, they can open it, get their grubby hands all over it and call it "new other". And if it doesn't sell after that, they will send it back to me like that, so I'll be stuck with an opened package.

They sent back the 8 baby monitors I sent them claiming "Valet does not accept multi quantity items."

I called ebay several times and they are saying that there's nothing they can do and all this stuff is as per the T&C of the valet program (which it is). I guess I really need to start reading the T&C.

I just wish that Amazon FBA stopped blocking shit. They are a billion times better then that. Case in point - I sold some mechanical keyboards. Someone returned one. Amazon listed it as customer damaged (which kind of sucks, but they can't be sure the customer didn't mess it up). I get to eat that return.

On the other hand I requested them to ship it back to me (for which they charge a whopping $0.50), and they fucked up and shipped it right in the keyboard box. I contacted support and they agreed that the item was damaged (as in the packaging) by them and refunded me the full amount the keyboard would've sold for (minus their cut of course).

So there you go, Amazon vs E-Bay.

Looks like they've been shit for ages: https://medium.com/adventures-in-consumer-technology/why-you-might-not-want-to-ask-ebay-to-sell-your-stuff-for-you-fea801cf6f63#.1467s7nrj

Besides, what's so hard about selling on eBay directly? I've done it enough times to know that process is pretty painless, and really not much work.

I hate shipping stuff and the shipping fees are pretty crazy. I love FBA because they handle everything for you and shipping is really cheap for them because they get crazy volume discounts.

Last time I sent stuff to ebay valet, they sold some of the stuff and it wasn't so bad. They did return a bunch of my stuff because they decided they couldn't sell it.

I've got some more stuff I've got to sell myself, so I'll try the ebay route, but I'm not too excited about it. Are there any tricks to it? I know one trick is to find somebody else selling your item and basically copy their description. Any help with the shipping stuff? Also what if I have items that do not move well? Would love to just have them listed like in an ebay store, but then you gotta pay a fee for that right?

  • I wish there was a way to send stuff to FBA and have them ship to ebay customers. The problem is you can't ship stuff to FBA that you can't sell on amazon, and the stuff I can sell on amazon, I would rather sell on amazon.

Does anyone know of a workaround?

    copy-pasta misleading information... :(

  • Oh and another reason I went with ebay valet is because I had a promo code from when they first started about a year and half ago. I generated 10 shipping labels but only used 2 or so. They said I can use the labels whenever.

So about a month ago I sent out this stuff using the label. It came back a few weeks later with the box looking a lot worse for the wear. Apparently they moved about a year ago and didn't bother notifying anyone or updating the labels. So whoever is there now I guess had to refuse shipment.

I called them and asked them the status of my order (while looking at the box that came back), and they were like, oh they're processing it right now. And I'm like, then why am I staring at the box. She's like oh yea they moved a year ago. Fucking liars. I asked for another label with the promo code, and they were basically like uh no. We don't have any more promo codes and no way to generate them.

BTW the promo code was for no fees. Basically the price they sell it for is the amount I get to keep - no ebay fees, no paypal fees, and they charge shipping to the customer. I ended up having to generate another label and photoshoping the old order # barcode onto it.

Well I would check it to make sure it's true. Basically I usually sell new in box stuff, so I would find another item that's like mine and sell it.

So much easier on amazon, you just find the product page and list under it. Someone should create their own ebay that had the product pages already made and you can just list your stuff there under different conditions (New, Used, Refurbished, etc). Basically amazon without the brand restrictions. And have a fullfilment service where people can send you the stuff and you ship it out (and benefit from the volume pricing on shipping.). I can't tell you how cheap it is for me to send stuff to amazon. Like a huge box will be like $5-$15.

I don't really have a problem with shipping stuff, though to be fair, I'm not in the habit of shipping large and/or fragile items. I agree the fees can be a bit mad though.

Might have to check them out next time I have crap I want to sell.

Just make sure your listing has plenty of info, but don't go overboard: conciseness is your friend.

You may get better rates if you shop around couriers.

    Hmm… Craigslist? I dunno tbh.

Dunno, as I've never gone the eBay Store route, but probably.
