Geographical confirmation needed please

  • The nice folks at http://theflatearthsociety.org/forum have almost convinced me.  I'm just concerned about their accuracy though - could some kind user familiar with US geography confirm that Boston and San Francisco are in fact only 8 inches apart?

Q: "What about the stars, sun and moon and other planets? Are they flat too? What are they made of?"

A: The sun and moon, each 32 miles in diameter, circle Earth at a height of 3000 miles at its equator, located midway between the North Pole and the ice wall. Each functions similar to a "spotlight," with the sun radiating "hot light," the moon "cold light." As they are spotlights, they only give light out over a certain are which explains why some parts of the Earth are dark when others are light. Their apparent rising and setting are caused by optical illusions.

In the "accelerating upwards" model, the stars, sun and moon are also accelerating upwards.

The stars are about as far as San Francisco is from Boston. (3100 miles)

  •  Where is the mention of 8 inches?

There isn't one, it's a figure I pulled out of my ass <sarcasm>unlike the figures they're quoting which were arrived at through rigorous scientific experimentation and analysis</sarcasm>.

Pah, you're just a part of the NASA conspiracy.

  • I find it amusing that the Flat Earth representation of Earth looks a lot like the United Nations emblem.  That they both reject logic and reason in favor of moronic ideology is only fitting.

Did he at least cuddle afterwards?

  •  BTW, the purpose of the Flat Earth Society is to show that with a logically (sounding) and well thought out argument, one can convince someone to believe the absurd - in this case that the earth is flat.

Mostly, at least. I think the interwhat has taken it a bit to an extreme.

  •  NASA conspiracy?  I think not!  They just haven't yet figured out the earth doesn't have to be square to be flat.  It's flat and round, just the same way Pringles are.  NASA just hasn't realized this yet.

I love you, dhromed.  Whadda you say we get out of here and find some place quiet?

FYI, I do cuddle afterwards. I'm just that kind of gay. --guy.

You can't fool me.  I know it's turtles all the way down.
