Slickedit ads

  • My pet pevee needs some venting;

    "SlickEdt iz liek cheatzing"

    "Top 10 reasons not to use SlickEdit: 1) you're a moron 2) see 1 3) etc."

"dv n suff on 40 dif plfrmz in 967 dif languages no wai"

I am paraphrasing here because the ad system here read my thoughts and decided not to show me any more SlickEdit ads while writing this post. Good call.

Am I the only one who is ready to punch the SlickEdit team in the face?

Why are they marketing to 9 year old 4-chan frequenters? Do they code much?

Gaaaaah. It makes me long for a detergent commercial.

Consider yourself lucky. You get to skip the whole tedious stage of trying to use their product, and skip straight to the apoplectic rage some of us took months to build up to.

    Absolutely not.

I don't know who they think will think their ads are "cool" and make them want to purchase the product.

  • whez i cna get da codz?

  • Can someone post an example ad? I inherently ignore ads no matter how annoying they are, and when I went around specifically looking for SlickEdit ads none of them matched up with what's being said in this thread. I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't know what's going on.

  • Doesn't this forum use Slickedit? Enough said.

You use software to do this. I've conditioned my own mind to block out ads. TV, radio, Internet, you name it. I immediately forget ads as I'm watching them. It's something I had assumed everyone in my generation did what with pervasive television ads, but I think I'm the only one.

Nah, I do it too.  Matter of fact I forget pretty much everything as I'm watching it.  It's a whole new world every time round the bowl to me!  Now, what was I doing....?  Writing an answer to something or something... I think.  I forget pretty much everything as soon as I've seen it.  It's a whole new world every time round the bowl to me.

Now, where was I?  Oh, yeh, writing an answer to some post or something like that... I also forget pretty much everything as soon as I've seen it.  It's like a whole new world each time round, to me!  Plus, I also forget everything pretty much as soon as I've seen it.  It's a [ . . . ]

  • In case you have adblock on:

I don't know about you, but I always write code with my cellphone.

  • Bloody thing costs $300 to license as well ( and that's if you just download it and don't want any fancy manual, etc )!

They really must be marketing to idiots. It's not like the feature set is even particularly compelling ( no Haskell/OCaml support, lack of user extensibility, serious ugliness, among other things ).

I know not everyone is going to be happy hacking away in emacs like I am, but even editors you pay for are a much better deal than this ( e.g. TextMate for about $50, although sadly still mac only ).

I think they're pretty cool! I don't want to purchase the product yet, though.
