WTF 40K

  •  Ah, Gmail and your ever so classy contextual ads.

I mean, the scam's bad enough as it is-- but when they can't even keep the math straight between the pitch and the URL?  Sigh.

  • How about posting a link or a pic so the rest of us can go 'wtf!?' as well?

He posted a pic here: http://matrix.senecac.on.ca/~lkates/wtf_40k.JPG, but that server appears to be down

  • @GettinSadda - your legal disclaimer vs. Phorm may not be viable until you replace the contraction "it's" with the possessive "its."

D'oh! And I normally nag others about such things!

    Fixed now thanks

TRWTF is the use of a blank alt tag, so we don't see *anything* if the image doesn't load or render correctly.

    <img src="http://matrix.senecac.on.ca/%7Elkates/wtf_40k.JPG" alt="" align="" border="" height="" hspace="" width="" />:
    vs
    <img src="http://matrix.senecac.on.ca/%7Elkates/wtf_40k.JPG" align="" border="" height="" hspace="" width="" />:The real WTF is Community Server putting blank alt tags in automatically.

Of course, there's no positive value add IMHO for the align="", border="", height="", hspace="", or width="" either.

  • That's what you get for using a college server. =)

    Here's an alternate-backup-mirror-redundant pic:

  • Keep trying...

  •  It is there, not sure why it doesn't show.

Sorry, I can't see your password, it's been censored

I clicked on the link, it said 404. I clicked the URL in the URL bar and pressed enter. It wanted to download it and open in the app that opens JPGs locally. It worked.

  •

    There.

  • Don't think it's really a WTF. The pitch advertises the maximum someone has got (supposedly) wheras the URL refers to the minimum guaranteed (again, supposedly). The REAL WTF is that there are still people that fall for these scams.

  • As far as I can figure out from the pitch, the scam works like this:

    1) Make a commercial and web page to advertise your secret for making $40K a month from home

    2) Charge $500 for the startup package

    3) Send buyer the startup package: Instructions for making a commercial and web page advertising their secret for making $40K a month from home

There must be new suckers, otherwise we wouldn't keep seeing new commercials and web pages.  But there are transcription errors with each generation, so some of the offspring get weird address/title mismatches like this.

By the way, you could have saved a lot of trouble by just typing the TEXT AD in the original post rather than trying so hard to post a JPG of a TEXT AD.

You forgot the obligatory overencapulation tag:
