Node JS Logos

This game purports to rate your knowledge, but it stands better I think as a demonstration of how awful some of the logos are in the NodeJS community. I mean, many of these evoke nothing at all!
Like seriously, what?

I wish, I wish...
On the subject of the test... 5/104? But...there weren't 104 questions! So... 5 whats? Just...
Well... at least the test is as clear as the logos?
-
@Onyx said in Node JS Logos:

There are 104 logos, but the game ends as soon as you get one wrong. Just like NodeJS terminates as soon as you look at it weird.

I see... Well, the second round I got was 1. Since it's definitely not my ecosystem I was trying to guess based on name and... whatever I could find, really. Some of them kinda made sense, some of them I guessed by color or whatever...
Do note that the score of 5 included at least 2 of the logos that actually had text in them...

Case in point, when I tried to upvote:
Seems like JS doesn't like you talking bad about JS.

I just got 35 and I'm trying to get even more!
-
@Onyx said in Node JS Logos:

I love those. Those are clear and concise.
It's also pretty easy to tell that, for example, an M with puppet strings stands for Marionette.
But some of them... WTF?
Or consider this:
One of those is Redux, one is Atom, one is Ionic, and one is Electron. You tell me which ones.
-
@aliceif said in Node JS Logos:

I've been trying for a few minutes, my best score is currently 25.
-
I'm pretty sure most of the devs found an image they liked first and then added 'js' to the end of its name.
Also, the image that looks like a plane propeller is not for one called 'flight'. Of course.
-
Imagine an egg hitting a concrete pavement, that’s how hard-wired, inflexible and brittle your code is.

I'm sure it's much cleaner and more maintainable when you're using 104 Javascript frameworks.
-
@Yamikuronue said in Node JS Logos:

I'll buttume Electron is the last one... Redux might be the third since it's not actually an atom, though that might just be a poor rendition...
Beyond that, I'll say Atom is the first and Ionic being the second, going by elimination and the fact that I actually did use Atom on occasion (though theme icon might be messing that up).
Whether I guessed this or not, any success is only due to context.
-
@Onyx said in Node JS Logos:

Wrong.
Answers:
Atom, Electron, Redux, Ionic.
-
@Yamikuronue said in Node JS Logos:
Wrong.
THAT'S ELECTRON?
THIS IN NOT HOW YOU PHYSICS, YOU IDIJSOTS!
-
@Onyx said in Node JS Logos:
THAT'S ELECTRON?
It's the framework behind Atom, so I think they just derivative-logo'd it instead of making sense.
-
100% memorization (and some guesswork). Not bad for someone who doesn't do Javascript.

They should still be used as a sacrificial offering to Lord Sagan.

And you're a worse spellar than some of the people responsible for naming JS libraries

delorean.js has my favorite bad logo.

Easy peasy!

Ehh... while I think that many programmers underestimate the value of a good brand, maybe you don't really need a memorable logo and catchy name for every single development tool.

I'm going to call mine "That thing that makes shit easy".
And the logo will be a cat. Because everyone remembers cats.
-
@anonymous234 said in Node JS Logos:

Right! A name that explains what the fuck this thing is for is a lot better than a name that is catchy but has no relation to the product. More "WordPerfect" and less "Grunt".
-
<emphatically>No ... I really do not. "Bro."</emphatically>

@Yamikuronue Bad naming has always been one of my pet peeves.
And it's applicable in pretty much every field. For example, consumer electronics: can you tell what an "K501UQ" is? Is it a recent product? Is it high end? Would you rather have it or a "K50IJ"? Compare to "MacBook Pro 2016" which pretty much tells you what it is (or "iPhone" and "iPad").
Or,
- Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime
- Asus Transformer Pad Infinity
- Asus Transformer Pad TF701T
Can you tell which one came first? Of course you can't. Why the fuck couldn't ASUS just name their stuff Transformer Pad 1, Transformer Pad 2, Transformer Pad 3?
-
@Onyx facebook already did it
-
Despite getting such easy cases sometimes, I don't score more than 3 :P

Maybe they can fork the project, split the atom, and blow themselves all into vapor.

Well, it's obviously hydrogen, in its stable form, so WTF.

Got lucky the second time around, but I've got better stuff to do.

Time to show off some more!

We're going to the future. Way into the future. Until we loop around to the past. And THEN we'll go back to the future.

@anonymous234 Eh, I was allowing for animations and shit, too lazy to actually check how fast shit gets added to the DOM (could've been JS animations that wait for the end instead of CSS3/parallel animations instead).
In other words, I was lazy.
