Over-enthusiasm at its worst

My organization has found a unique way to block super-dangerous viruses - use a firewall.
To be more specific, use a firewall that blocks any URL containing super-dangerous words like "scripts", "javascript", "proxy" and uh ".zip" and ".exe" (No! This stupid thing doesnt intercept and sniff the HTTP content-type header). It blocks sites based on DNS queries and URL resource requests.
Some commonly blocked sites are:
>eclipse.org/uml2
>thinkvitamin.com
>thescripts.com
>codeproject.com/javascript (recollecting these from memory)
So what's the end result?
The ones who diligently do their work end up using SSL based proxies for almost any web development. Oh, these are the AJAX developers btw.
The worst part ?
The ones who dont do work, dont tend to not use internet at all for work related purposes. (The dudes who 'work' on Oracle Forms and whose real work counts as browsing news sites; wtf was that?).
The WTF?
The MS Frontpage authored HTML page thrown out by this Nazi firewall, that has the audacity to accuse us of visiting "non-business" related sites.

If they are excluding urls including ".exe" because ".exe" is an executable file extension, why not point out to them that ".com" is also an executable extension!

Wow. Where did they find such a horrible firewall? If I tried to find a firewall that bad I would probably fail. Did they create it themselves? What kind of nutjob is responsible for putting such a retarded firewall into place and leaving it there?

They "might" have tried that out before I joined, and somehow a VP must have blasted the peas out of their craniums when it "was discovered" that they had blocked the company portal for everybody.
But that would have been a good deed though, the blocking of the portal that is.
This portal is another WTF, not that I've come across better ones.
Most of the administrative people I've noticed just dont have it within them to administrate over something vital. They seem to like driving cars made of styrofoam and chewing gum.
