The Telegraph channels The Onion/The Daily Mash:
On Friday, two teenage girls were arrested after being found wearing clown outfits.
-
@PJH I've found some more clowns…
-
@dkf where is Theresa May?
-
@Arantor Not in that picture alas, and I got bored looking in GIS.
-
-
@PJH I don't think Trump or Clinton are clowns, and if they are, they're in a different league to our set of clowns.
-

I think of Trump as more of a buffoon than a clown. I don't think there's anything humorous about Clinton, just scary.

The contrabuffoon, or short-fingered double buffoon, is an ungainly double-long buffoon playing an octave lower, which is very long and low indeed.

Not to be confused with the jaboon.
(Actual fun fact: Those who play the bassoon are called faggotists.)

I played from 5th grade up through college. Since I hadn't played since then, I donated it to the Music In Schools program.

Were you a Zippelfagotist?

LOL (and that post was #5 in my search)
I was actually pretty decent - I played in the All-Shore Orchestra back in NJ. Can't remember if I was 1st or 2nd chair... I sucked at practicing tho...

Given what Dump is currently making headlines for, 'long' is something he seems to brag about, and 'low' certainly fits his claimed behavior.
Do we really need a president? I mean, why have one if the choices are all terrible?

Constitutionally required.
Which isn't to say we couldn't amend it to always have "None of the above" as an option. (Although if we're doing constitutional electoral reform, there's a lot of other important stuff that would help even more.)
-

Well there's your problem.
You're supposed to blow, not suck.
-

So practicing blows when you suck?

No, that's me at Tae Kwon Do lessons.

Professional clowns hit out at pranksters
I'm having trouble parsing this. "Hit out at"? Is this a synonym for "retaliate against"?
-
@Tsaukpaetra appears to mean something more like "denounce/condemn".
-
Australia this time.
Schoolchildren wearing clown masks in the same area on Monday were issued warnings by officers and "directed to move on".
"The penalty for possessing an article of disguise is up to two years imprisonment," a police spokeswoman said.
-
Officers were called about 3.30am on Sunday over complaints of a man in a clown mask at a fast food outlet on the Princes Freeway.
The truly hilarious thing about that is that the only fast food outlet on the Princes Freeway at Moe is a McD's.
The World Clown Association president this week said he was totally against the current worldwide craze of people dressing up as clowns to terrorise people.

That guy doesn't scare me. Maybe because we have the same first name.
The one that has always made me uncomfortable is this terrorist:
-
-
"McDonald's and franchisees in the local markets are mindful of the current climate around clown sightings in communities and as such are being thoughtful in respect to Ronald McDonald's participation in community events for the time being," McDonald's spokeswoman Terri Hickey told Business Insider.

This makes me think of:

The original Ronald McDonald - not creepy at all.

@Boner
so, this is how watchmen begins

@Boner I'm honestly surprised we don't see more Batmans around. You'd think the idea of dressing up and going around punching bad people would be more popular.
I guess the threat of just getting shot by one of those bad people is too much.
I'm also surprised no one has ever tried to build a "real" Batsuit (i.e. bulletproof, actually usable for combat). There must be plenty of millionaire geeks who would love to own one just for the "cool" factor.

It's certainly popular in fiction/dramas:

That's not the only perk of the job:

Eh...even getting punched back is pretty risky.

How do you know they haven't? Just because some built one just to have it doesn't mean it would be publicized or used.
-

You have a mobile device, right? Disconnect from company wifi, job done.
This is how I am posting from work today :)

wtf is up with that "news" page? It's like 4 short paragraphs, a couple of huge but unrelated images and tons of whitespace.
-
@cvi it is a bit weird. There's the hero image then the content looks like it's been done in powerpoint.
I'm pretty sure these clickbait pages are generated without any human interaction anyway.

A prolonged visit to the porcelain throne then?

Alas, that's got awful-to-none Wifi reception, nor any mobile signal. The building must have a lot of structural steel in the vicinity.

Yeah ... one wonders if this is by design ...
-
@Luhmann said in Clowning around:

Actually, I know it wasn't by design. The building (and its plumbing) predates wifi and mobile phones. It also predates ethernet (this building was completed in 1970, whereas ethernet was from research done about 3–4 years later).
